If you reload there is almost no such thing as boredom. Just change direction with what you load for it, either to run it hotter, softer, more accurate - - you can chase those of things forever.

A GP100 can be easily replaced. If you're pretty sure you don't want it, sell or trade it. I've sold a few guns that I'm glad I did, they got me into a another gun I wanted at a lower cost.

I have guns I've never shot. Some still in cosmoline. 10-20 years from now and I drag out a Swede still in the grease I'm hoping to get top premium price. Let some new guy learn the joys of cleaning 50 year old cosmoline out of every nook and cranny.

It's easy. Gasoline. It's a damned good solvent and I (and a lot of friends) are still unscathed over a lot of years. Hell, we used "white" (unleaded) gasoline as thinner when we spray-painted the company's foot lockers, wall lockers and bunk frames at 108 degrees in Fort Jackson while in the Army.

    I've sold 8 guns, and I don't miss them.
Same here, collecting is one thing, but keeping guns you don't use if you are not a collector just seems a little "off" imo.
Reading some of the comments here I picture the posters House surrounded by old cars, trucks and lawn mowers...

If I sold every gun I have not shot in a year I would have only two left!

I have a gun in a safe that I have not shot in almost 20 years. It is no heirloom, either. But I do have a legitimate hypothetical use for it.

On the other...um...foot I guess, I have sold guns as well.

Consider if you might need it for some reason, your initial and current attraction to it, and what you are going to do with the money if you sell it. You are probably not going to get much.

A few weeks ago I bought six rifles from a guy who hoarded them for 20+ years.
I only wanted three of them but I got a better price on a package and he pretty much got to the point where he said it's all or nothing anyway...

So I cleaned up and looked over the three I really didn't want.
Sold two on Monday to a member here.
Pretty much just recouped my money on those two.
Yesterday I used some of that recouped money to buy a Lithgow No1MKIII.

I won't miss those two rifles a bit.
Heck, last year I sold off a dozen guns to buy a motorcycle, I don't regret selling a single one.
They are possessions, not my offspring...

For no apparent reason, my view on handguns and rifles is different.

I only keep a couple handguns. Typically a compact daily-carry, a larger mid-size winter-carry, and a precision "range/target" gun. I shoot them all regularly, and if I get bored with one, I 'trade' it for another (either direct trade or sell-and-buy)

With long guns, I never get rid of them.

Can't explain the rationale. Just the way it is for me.
