Newbie. Question about transporting gun from airport to home

Many shops have varying pricing for transfers.

You can't just call and ask "How much is a transfer?"
Some do charge the same for any type, but many will charge a higher price if it's not a "walk in", or if a firearm is coming to them from another vendor. I don't have an issue with that seeing as you are using them for a transfer but not buying anything - AS LONG as the price isn't TOO high over the normal price.

Always explain what you are doing and get the correct price before you learn it is something different at the last minute.

Translated to English that's "Because I'm an asshole and I can. I don't want to do interstate transfers so when pressed, I'll overcharge hoping you'll go elsewhere". Which you should...with all your firearm related business. He's probably overcharging for everything else he has, too.

And yes, this ^^^ is likely the case.

Just wanted to update people here. I ended up finding a Ffl dealer in AZ. Took awhile as most places I called wouldn't do an interstate transfer. Really nice people. 35 for transfer and 5 for insurance. The receiving Ffl dealer in PA charges 75 to recieve it. So 115 total. Seems steep but it is what it is. Not sure if higher cost is due to background checks or something. Thanks all.

I would not use that FFL in Pittsburgh again. They screwed you. Pghff in McKeesport is $20, for example.

Whether $75 or $20 on the receiving end, either way, still a hell of a lot cheaper than legal fees if the transfer wasn't completed in a way that abides by the laws of both states and the feds.

It's refreshing to see a thread where the wise old sages help out a noob, the noob actually heeds the advice and it all works out well. Reminds of me of why I joined this forum 10 years ago when threads like this were the norm rather than the exception.
