MISSISSIPPI COUNTY, Miss. - A suspected burglar was shot and arrested after breaking into someone's house, the Mississippi Sheriff's Department said.

Police were called to the 100 block of East 1st Street on September 17 at 3 a.m. Deputies were also brought in to help.

When detectives talked to the homeowner, he said he woke up in the middle of the night due to loud noise.

The man walked into the living room with a gun and saw Charles Lancaster, 47, in his house, according to the news release. He told him to leave, police said.

Lancaster refused and started unplugging the TV. The homeowner once again told him to leave.

"Give me that gun before you hurt yourself old man," Lancaster said.

The man then shot Lancaster in the leg.

Lancaster was found across the street and taken to the hospital. He was also arrested and charged with residential burglary.

With 12-year-old daughter's help, Salina man fends off intruder

SALINA, Kan. (KWCH) A Salina man confronts a home intruder and holds the man at gunpoint until police arrive.

The homeowner says he'd never met the man who kicked in his door Thursday night, but he was ready to do anything to protect his daughter.

Ron, "Rodeo" Griffin says he noticed the man who broke into his home was bleeding from his foot . Griffin tried to talk to the man who said he was running away from someone.

Griffin says it wasn't until the intruder closed his door and attempted to lock it that he felt threatened. He asked his 12-year-old daughter to grab his gun to protect them.

"I (told) him, 'don't come any closer this way because I will shoot you,'" Griffin says.

Griffin is 63 years old and recently had quadruple bypass surgery. But his daughter, Macy, says her father prepared her for emergency situations like what they encountered Thursday night.

"We kinda always are prepared for these situations, so if these situations ever happen, we're kind of you know, prepared and ready."

Griffin held the man at gunpoint and says the police showed up within minutes after the call to them. Police took the intruder into custody.

Griffin says he's proud of his daughter and glad they are safe.

"You got a 12-year-old daughter in the house, you're gonna do what you can to protect her," he says.

Man held at gunpoint after attempt to rob disabled volunteer

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (TNN) - 26-year-old Angel Christopher Solorzano is charged with aggravated robbery after an attempt to steal the donation bucket from a disabled volunteer picking up donations from a gas station.

On Thursday, September 19, 2019 at around 1:18 pm officers with the Wichita Falls Police Department responded to the Love’s on Central Freeway in reference to an aggravated robbery.

Upon arrival at the scene the WFPD spoke with the victim who claimed she was inside the store collecting money for the Children’s Miracle Network when she was approached by Solorzano who asked the victim for information about where he might be able to purchase a bus ticket to Fort Worth. While the victim was answering to Solorzano he reached down and grabbed the donation bucket from the lap of the victim, who was in a wheelchair and does not have full use of her arms, and then attempted to flee the scene.

A witness on the scene chased Solorzano around the store and onto the nearby access road where they confronted Solorzano and told him return the money to the victim at which time Solorzano threw a backpack at the witness and hit them in the face with his fist. Solorzano then reveled a knife and told the witness to, “back up.”

Solorzano continued to run down the access road and was again confronted by two separate witnesses. One of these witnesses had a firearm and held Solorzano at gunpoint until police arrived on scene.

Solorzano had taken around $60 in loose, crumpled bills.

Officers placed Solorzano into custody and took him to the Wichita County Jail where he was charged with one count of Aggravated Robbery.

Solorzano remains in the Wichita County Jail on a $50,000 bond as of Friday, September 20, 2019.

Off-Duty Security Guard Kills 1, Injures 2 In Lynwood Shooting

LYNWOOD (CBSLA) – An off-duty security guard killed one man and injured two more in a shooting in a Lynwood parking lot early Friday morning during an attempted robbery.

The shooting occurred in the parking lot of an AutoZone store in the 10900 block of Long Beach Boulevard at around 4:45 a.m., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The security guard told deputies he was off-duty and sleeping in his car when three suspects drove up and tried to open his doors, prompting him to confront them and open fire. He then drove away and called 911.

“I can’t speak for him, but I would assume being in a situation like that, I would assume he was afraid for his safety, and to stay in this area, so he fled and called sheriff’s department immediately like he should have,” sheriff’s Lt. Scott Hoglund said.

One man died at the scene and two others were rushed to a hospital, the sheriff’s department said. Their conditions were not confirmed.

The guard was detained for questioning. Deputies told CBS2 that he had a license to carry a firearm, but they are working to ensure it is valid.

Deputies did not immediately confirm whether the suspects were armed, returned fire or even knew the victim was in his car.

Man arrested after attempted robbery at Popeyes in SW Miami-Dade

SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, FLA. (WSVN) - Police have arrested a man who, they said, is behind an attempted strong-armed robbery at a Popeyes in Southwest Miami-Dade.

Miami-Dade Police and Fire Rescue crews responded to the fast food restaurant along Southwest 112th Avenue and 152nd Street just after 11:30 a.m., Thursday.

“Next thing I heard ‘Pop! Pop! Pop!’ When I look across, I saw people started running,” witness Gary Richards said.

Cellphone video captured the crook attempting to rob a man in the parking lot of the fast food restaurant when a good Samaritan fired a warning shot into the air.

“He was just punching on the guy. I had to stop him,” said Eula, the good Samaritan.

The attempted robber then fled the scene, leaving the victim bleeding and badly injured, and he made his way into the backyard of a home nearby.

“When I looked by the Popeyes and saw this man, he had blood from his head all the way down to his clothes,” Richard said.

When responding officers arrived, he tried to leave the scene once more but was taken into custody shortly after.

The good Samaritan explained her reason for risking her life to intervene.

“It’s intense; it was an intense moment,” said Eula. “I had no control over it. It was an intense moment.”

Witnesses said after the suspect fled the scene, the victim appeared to be OK.

“He was standing up, and taking some papers out of his pocket to give to the police,” said Richards. “The ambulance came, they checked him out then they took him to the hospital.”

“I just had to save a guy’s life,” said Eula. “That’s all I did, just try to save a guy’s life.”

Three nearby schools were placed on lockdown as a result of the robbery. The lockdowns have since been lifted.

The names of the parties involved have not been revealed.

The condition of the victim remains unknown.+

Supporters of the Second Amendment know there are innumerable hypothetical arguments against anti-gun policies, and unending amounts of statistical evidence that show the abject failure of gun-control laws to have any discernible impact on efforts to diminish violent crime. And when extremists opposed to our rights roll out the tired, overused phrase, “If it saves one life,” we know they have abandoned all logic and are simply resorting to an unprovable argument.

The notion that anti-gun laws might save a single life—let alone help to lower the near record low rate of violent crime—is predicated on a flawed concept that criminals will obey such laws.

They don’t, of course, which is why we call them criminals.

Now, the pro-gun community could always use our opponents' tactics and ask of a gun-control proposal, “What if it costs lives?” Just as hard to prove? Maybe not.

While anecdotal evidence is not useful for confirming theories, it often can be effective when trying to illustrate a point. And every month, NRA Publications include anecdotal evidence that lives are saved by making sure law-abiding citizens have access to the best means of defense.

We call it "The Armed Citizen."

Although the stories in The Armed Citizen are presented simply to show how law-abiding gun owners protect themselves and others through the safe, responsible use of firearms, putting such stories in the context of why anti-gun laws are dangerous is sometimes necessary.

On July 16, a San Diego, Calif., homeowner was assaulted and stabbed by a burglar. While the victim’s wife called 911, his 20-year-old son retrieved a firearm and shot the attacker, who stumbled from the home and died. After authorities arrived, paramedics took the wounded homeowner to the hospital where he was admitted in stable condition.

A greater tragedy for the homeowner and his family was likely averted because of quick thinking by the son and quick access to a firearm. Had the home invasion taken place two weeks later, however, the outcome may have been much different.

On July 30, the San Diego City Council gave final approval for a new ordinance that requires gun owners to store firearms in the home in a locked container or with a trigger lock. Those found not in compliance face up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.

So, had the ordinance been in place, and had the homeowners been in compliance, the assailant’s attack would have certainly continued for the additional time it would have taken for the son to either remove the firearm from the storage device or remove the trigger lock. That is, if he even knew how to do so. When lives are at stake, as in this case, every second counts, and it is almost guaranteed that the assailant would have done more damage in the time granted him by the city council. Perhaps his attack would have even spread to the other occupants of the home.

And what if the homeowners had decided to not obey the tragically flawed ordinance? Would there now be the threat of jail time for simply deciding they knew the best, safest method for storing a personal-protection firearm?

One-size-fits-all mandatory-storage laws are a real threat to the safety of law-abiding gun owners—as this case clearly highlights. But they are not, by any stretch of the imagination, the only threat.

The NRA is often vilified by anti-gun extremists for its support of laws that ensure law-abiding citizens can legally carry concealed firearms for personal protection. We began a concerted push for such laws with the passage of Florida’s shall-issue permit system in 1987. Illinois had no mechanism for the lawful carrying of firearms for personal protection until years of lobbying pressure from NRA members and victories in the courts culminated in the passage of that state’s shall-issue permit law in 2013.

The gun-ban community has long opposed right-to-carry laws. But in June, a good guy with a gun (and a carry permit) stopped two armed criminals in Chicago from what was clearly an attempt to murder another man.

A June 7 Chicago Sun-Times story reported that two armed men approached a 22-year-old male and began firing at him. A carry-permit holder seated in his car exited his vehicle with his firearm and shot both assailants. The 22-year-old survived, and the permit holder was uninjured. Without that permit holder’s lawfully carried firearm and quick action, the attack would have surely ended quite differently—and likely tragically.

Anti-gun approaches to violent crime—like mandatory storage or prohibiting concealed carry—are not just flawed approaches to addressing criminal activity, they are potentially deadly for law-abiding gun owners and other citizens.

Homeowner Shoots And Kills Intruder In Leflore County

ROCK ISLAND, Okla. (KFSM) — Right now Leflore County deputies are on the scene of what they are calling a possible home invasion. breaking news
According to the Leflore County Sheriff Rob Seal, an elderly woman shot an killed an intruder at her home in Rock Island.

Investigators said the man who died entered the home on Jenson Road. Once inside, investigators said they believe the man was asked to leave but advanced towards the homeowner. He was shot and killed.

Deputies are on scene now trying to determine exactly what happened.

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police say an attempted home invasion in Tacony ended with one suspect being fatally shot and another wounded.

Around 4:20 a.m. Monday, two men broke into a house on the 7100 block of Walker Street. They climbed through a back deck window and demanded money.

Then, they were both shot by someone inside the house.

Police say one suspect jumped out of a second-floor window after being shot. He was taken to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, where he died shortly thereafter.

The other suspect who was shot was driven to Nazareth Hospital in a private car and is still being evaluated.

It was not clear if anyone inside the house was injured.

Authorities say a weapon was recovered at the scene.

The names of the two suspects have not been released. Police are investigating further.

TULSA, Okla. - A man is dead after a shooting at an east Tulsa home Sunday night.

Tulsa police responded to a call about a shooting around 9:30 p.m. at a home near 31st and Memorial.


The homeowner at the scene told police a man was aggressively knocking on his front door around 9 p.m.

Police say the homeowner was not expecting company, so he grabbed his handgun when he answered the door to see the man -- 19-year-old Troy Giles -- standing outside holding a gun.

The homeowner fired twice -- hitting Giles once.

Police say they do not believe Giles ever fired a shot.

Officers arrived to the scene and tried to save him in the front yard before paramedics arrived to take him to the hospital. He later died at the hospital.

Police interviewed the homeowner and released him pending further investig
