Clerk shoots robbery suspect at southeast Wichita liquor store]

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) A man is in critical condition after he was shot during a robbery in southeast Wichita Tuesday afternoon.

Wichita police say officers responded to an armed robbery and shooting at F & K Liquor in the 900 block of S. Woodlawn around 12:30 p.m.

Officers found an 18-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the leg behind a nearby Family Dollar store.

Through the investigation at this time, police learned two unknown suspects entered the business, brandished a gun and demanded money.

Money was given to the suspects. As they ran away, an employee fired multiple shots, striking the 18-year-old suspect in the leg.

The man was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call 911 or CrimeStoppers at 316-267-2111.

Unfortunately a homeowner got killed. Sounds like the other adult homeowner did shoot one of the invaders trying to protect his family.

Robbery suspect was one of two people shot in Friday's fatal shooting (Audio)

A Browns Summit woman was shot and killed Friday night after at least two men tried to rob her husband at their home, police said.

Police said a second person shot multiple times at the home was one of the alleged robbers; he was hospitalized in serious condition.

Police identified the woman killed as 34-year-old Pamela Crumpton Hooks. The couple's children were home at the time of the shooting, police said, but declined to say how many children were there or their ages.

"What we know is that we have a guy who is in the hospital, who went to the residence with at least one other person to commit a robbery," said Greensboro Police Capt. Nathaniel Davis. "At some point the homeowner attempted to protect his family and retrieved his own gun."

As the husband and the suspects shot at one another, one of the suspects' bullets struck Hooks inside her house at 716 Hidden Lakes Court in Browns Summit, Davis said.

While the house has a Browns Summit address, it technically falls within the Greensboro city limits.

It's not clear whether the robbers and the homeowners knew one another, Davis said.

Investigators responded to the shooting about 9:30 p.m.

911 operators heard screams during the first of nine calls about the shooting. Operators redacted what led to that initial call, but in the background gunfire sounded as women screamed and men shouted. .

"Was someone just shooting?" the operator asked. .

A man on the phone begged for an ambulance.

"They just broke in," the man said.

Many of the callers could not be understood.

"Somebody pulled out a gun," one told operators. "We told him to keep the door shut (redacted) and he walked in and started shooting."

Callers told the 911 operators Hooks was the only victim.

She was bleeding, lying on the floor upstairs near a bedroom.

"I can't tell where she's shot at," one caller told a 911 operator. "It's, like, by her breast near her arm."

In another call, what seemed to be a younger girl told operators the woman had been shot under her armpit.

It's not clear if the girl was related to the couple, but Davis said the couple's children were home when the shooting happened.

The girl told the operator she saw both a gun and a bullet nearby. The operator told her to leave the items alone.

Several people were instructed to get a towel to try and stop the bleeding.

One man was able to help.

"She's breathing," the man told the operator. "She's breathing really hard now."

"It's OK," the man told Hooks. "Stay with me, stay with me. It's OK."

It wasn't until a ninth phone call that operators learned of the man who was shot.

"I heard something and opened up the window," a caller told operators. "I heard a man saying he was shot. I want to go out there and help him but I'm scared because I don't know what happened."

Paramedics took both the man and Hooks to Moses Cone Hospital where Hooks died.

Her death marks the 13th homicide in Greensboro this year.

Davis said the man who was shot, whose name is not being released for now, remains in very serious condition.

A Tuolumne city resident investigating noises and voices coming from his rental home next to his own home shot a man he encountered inside Tuesday night, the Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office reported.

The homeowner, 80, told deputies he feared for his and his wife's safety when they were confronted by 29-year-old Bryce Lawrence in the house. The rental home is on the couple's Hodge Avenue property and apparently is unoccupied, said Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Sgt. Andrea Benson.

Lawrence, who the Sheriff's Office said is transient, was shot once in the upper torso. He was taken by ambulance to the Adventist Health Sonora medical center and later flown to a Modesto hospital for medical treatment. Benson had no word on his condition Wednesday morning.

Just before 11 p.m. Tuesday, multiple 911 calls were made that a man had been shot in the Hodge Avenue home, Benson said. Lawrence was in the home with 24-year-old Bryanna Ireland of Sonora.

Ireland was booked into the county jail on suspicion of burglary.

Palm Bay Man Faced With Gun When Trying to Break Into Home
May 23, 2018 Scott Lee Palm Bay News 0
Palm Bay man tries to break into home to get out of the rain.

PALM BAY, Florida – A 42-year-old man was arrested after he tried breaking into a Palm Bay home because he wanted “to get out of the rain,” police said.

Philip Ryan Krzak was arrested on burglary charges and transported to the Brevard County Jail.

Palm Bay police were dispatched to the 1500 block of Hayworth Circle NW in reference to someone trying to break into the home.

The homeowner said she was lying in bed when her daughter came running into her room to advise someone was outside her window, the report said.

With a gun in hand, the homeowner walked around the home checking windows. Once she was in the back of the house, she opened the blinds and saw Krzak trying to open the window. She pointed the gun at Krzak and told him to get off her property, according to the report.

Krzak then walked away from the house and into a wooded lot as police arrived. Soon after, he was seen walking on Hollaman Street.

Officers detained Krzak and interviewed him about his whereabouts. Krzak stated that he was driving around the neighborhood and pulled into a driveway. He said he parked the car because he didn’t want to drive drunk, according to the arrest affidavit.

“Krzak said he took two shots of ’99 Vodka’. While sitting in his car, Krzak then got out of his car in the rain because he did not want to drive while he was drinking,” the officer said.

Krzak stated that he thought the house was abandoned, so he tried to break in to get out of the rain. Krzak said he was on the phone with his wife and told her he was not sure where he was and did not want to drive because he was drinking, the report said.

“It should be known, Krzak was only one lot over from his vehicle when he wanted to get out of the rain and could have simply walked back to his vehicle,” police said.

Krzak’s bond was set at $15,000.

McMinn woman shoots ex-boyfriend after authorities say he violated protection order

McMINN COUNTY, Tenn. (WTVC) - A man in McMinn County is facing several charges after authorities say he violated an order of protection and assaulted his girlfriend.

Sheriff Joe Guy also says 37-year-old Reginald Moten is also recovering from being shot several times by the woman.

Guy says deputies were dispatched to a residence on Road 26 near Calhoun early Saturday morning at 1 a.m.

"It appears that a female at the residence had recently left her boyfriend (Reginal Moten) and had recently obtained arrest warrants and an order of protection against him for a previous domestic assault," Guy said.

"Around 1 a.m., Moten came to the residence in violation of the order, and it appears he again assaulted [the woman], who then shot Moten several times. He sustained serious injuries and was transported to a Chattanooga hospital."

"Moten still will face the previous charges, and now will be likely be charged with violating the order of protection and the assault once he is out of the hospital," added Guy.

The woman who shot Moten has not been charged as of now, says Guy.

According to police, it happened outside of a business near the intersection of Riopelle and the Fisher Service Dr.

We're told three trucks were delivering meat to a business at Eastern Market. One of the employees came out of the business and saw two men in the back of the truck trying to steal meat. They ended up in a scuffle.

Pinson woman shoots at, then chases car burglar
    Tuesday, May 22nd 2018, 10:59 pm EDT

    PINSON, AL (WBRC) -
A Pinson woman is wanting to find the person she says broke into her family’s cars and took several items.

Jerrica Graves says her mother heard something outside their windows early Sunday morning. When she turned on the light a man was standing there.

She says she asked him what he was doing. “I told him to stop. He didn’t respond. He kept running. That’s when I fired the two shots,” said Graves.

Graves missed and the man took off running. She followed in her truck and said she chased him approximately ten miles.

At one point he stopped, got out, and fired a couple of shots in her direction.

Graves followed him until he went down a dead end road. At that point, she decided to call for help.

“One of two things is going to happen, even I’m going to end up dead or you’re going to end up dead. And I don’t want anybody to die, I really don’t. Whatever you had I wanted it back,” Graves said about the man.

He got away before deputies could arrive. As of publication, he is still on the loose. If you know anything call the Jefferson County Sheriff’s office.

Report: Store owner holds break-in suspects at gunpoint
    (WDTN Photo/Ethan Fitzgerald)
DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Police responded to a break-in after the store owner called 911 and allegedly held the suspects at gunpoint.

According to a police report on the incident, it happened in the 1600 block of Springfield Street around 2:40 am Wednesday.

In the report, the owner told officers there have been several break-ins within a month at the store.

The store owner stayed late at the business to see if he could catch the suspects with his surveillance video system.

The officers wrote in the report the security footage showed two people standing at the back of the business and that's when the owner saw the suspects.

The owner exited out the side door, held the suspects at gunpoint and called 911 at the same time, according to the report.

Police officers looked at a fence and did not find any damage.

When the officers arrived at the scene they saw a long gun in the trash can and one of the suspects laying on the ground.

The owner told dispatchers he would fire off his gun if the suspects tried to run, according to the report. The officer who wrote the report noted the owner had a 12-gauge shotgun loaded with rubber rounds.

One suspect ran from the scene and the owner fired one shot in the air, The report says the owner fired a second shot at the fleeing suspect when he did not stop. It is not known if the suspect was hit with the rubber round.

Police put a second suspect in handcuffs and searched for weapons and found a flashlight, razor blade knife and wrench on the person.

A second suspect was taken into custody and booked into the Montgomery County Jail.
