Intruder killed aboard a luxury yacht in National City
    September 4, 2018
NATIONAL CITY (KUSI) – They heard a strange noise at 4:00 in the morning. At the time, the man and woman were sleeping on board a luxury yacht named “Sea Weed.”

One thing led to another, gun shots were fired and one man was shot and killed. “There is a deceased man on board the boat”., says Lt. Greg Seward of the National City Police.

As it turns out, the deceased man was apparently trying to steal the 70-foot yacht. “He released the mooring lines of the yacht and set it adrift, then attempted to start the engines”, according to a statement by National City Police.

That’s when things got violent. Police say there was some kind of struggle between the intruder and someone on board. Then, the gun came out and shots were fired. “The good part is, the people on board are going to be ok,” says Lt. Seward.

While police are not sharing much, we do know this. The people on board the yacht are the parents of a person named Michael Llamas, the registered owner of the Yacht, Sea Weed. He was also the CEO of a Poway company called “Medical Marijuana Inc”. Llamas was killed last November in a fiery car crash on Harbor Drive in downtown San Diego. A young fashion model was also killed when Llamas drove his Lambroghini into a palm tree, going over 100-miles an hour.

At the time of the crash, Llamas had already plead guilty to “fraud” in Federal Court. He admitted to stealing more than $10-million dollars from investrors, in a real estate scam. He was waiting to be sentenced in Federal Court, when he decided to crash his car and end it all.

When he died, all the people he ripped off were left high and dry. He was supposed to sell his properties and pay them back. That never happened.

We don’t know the name of the man who was shot and killed. Nor do we know ‘why’ he was trying to steal this particular yacht.

A home invasion suspect is still at large after being stopped by a homeowner with a gun.

Police reported to the 1200 block of Short 11th Street in Lincoln after reports of an attempted break in.

Officers arrived to find a man had damaged a vehicle in front of a home by throwing a brick through the front window.

The suspect then attempted to force the door open to the residence and the homeowner, whom was legally armed with a pistol, told the suspect she had a gun.

The suspect continued to try and force himself in and the homeowner fired the gun.

Police say it doesn't look like the suspect was injured and he fled on foot.

There was reported damage to several vehicles and residences in that area along with a vehicle that was set on fire.

Officers also investigated several reported criminal damage to property reports South from Short 11th Street at the Christian Village, 600blk of S Main St, 700blk of S Washington, 1000blk of 1st Street, 800blk of 2nd Street, 400blk of 1 st Street, and a subsequent call from a homeowner in the 900blk of S Kickapoo at 6:25 AM that the suspect was running east from that location.

Officers have a description of a white male, 15 to 20 years of age, shoulder length brown hair, thin build, wearing red shorts with a white stripe, no shirt, and no shoes.

Police are requesting any homeowners in these areas along with businesses to check video surveillance systems and report any further information no matter how slight.

    Pierce County Sheriff's Department
A would-be burglar was held at gunpoint by an Orting man after he was caught trying to break into a trailer and carport early Wednesday, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.

The homeowner and his wife were awakened about 1:40 a.m. by a loud vehicle, then heard a motion alarm on their fence go off.

The man went outside and spotted two men standing near three trailers on his property on 128th Street East. One would-be burglar was holding bolt cutters.

The homeowner held one of the alleged burglars at gunpoint while his wife called 911. The second burglar ran west on state Route 162.

Deputies responded and arrested a 30-year-old man on suspicion of second-degree burglary.

He allegedly told deputies he and his friend decided to break into the carport and trailers because he needed money for a heroin addiction.

A K-9 search was launched for the second burglar.

After some time, a purple Jeep Liberty parked three blocks from the home caught the attention of deputies, who went to the address of the vehicle’s registered owner.

A woman who lived there told deputies her son called her asking for a ride, but she declined to go pick him up.

Deputies were able to call the 24-year-old man, who eventually directed Orting police officers to where he was hiding.

He initially denied involvement then exclaimed, “I’m going to prison for 10 years anyway,” according to the Sheriff’s Department.

The man allegedly admitted to acting as a lookout and hiding under trees until he was able to dash away from the scene.

He has nine prior felony convictions for theft, residential burglary and theft of a firearm, records show. He also had a warrant for DUI.
