Schuylkill County man shoots intruder who doused home with gasoline
    Peter Hall.
A Schuylkill County man shot an intruder who poured gasoline on the floors of a North Manheim Township home Sunday evening, state police at Schuylkill Haven said.

The shooter, who police identified only as a 57-year-old man with a Pottsville address, was working inside his home about 6 p.m. when the intruder, who police described as an unknown white male, came from across the street and entered the garage. The intruder took a gas can from the garage and entered the home, pouring gasoline all over the floor, state police said.

A struggle began as the homeowner stood up and pushed the intruder out of the house. The homeowner’s daughter retrieved her father’s handgun and gave it to him while she called 911, police said.

The intruder continued to assault the homeowner, pushing him to the ground. The homeowner was able to rise to his knees and fired one shot, striking the intruder in the left arm and abdomen. The intruder eventually collapsed to the ground and remained there until police and rescue workers arrived, police reported.

Police did not identify the street address of the home where shooting happened. Police said they are still trying to identify the intruder. He was flown to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest for treatment and will be charged with burglary, simple assault and arson, police said.

A state police dispatcher said no other information about the incident would be released Sunday.

Good Samaritan saves couple being held at gunpoint
Posted 8:24 am, June 18, 2018, by Eryn Taylor, Updated at 08:52AM, June 18, 2018

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A couple is safe this morning thanks to the heroic actions of a good Samaritan.

The alleged incident happened Sunday in the 1300 block of Walnut Hall at the Lynnfield Place Apartments.

The couple told police they were unloading groceries when two suspects jumped from a Toyota Camry and rushed them. The first suspect held a gun to the wife’s head as the second rummaged through the man’s pockets. That second man’s gun was pointed at the husband’s stomach, police said.

A neighbor saw the incident in progress and took action. Authorities said he grabbed his own gun and charged the suspects, causing the first suspect to take off running. But the criminal going through the husband’s pockets reportedly stood his ground.

Despite being ordered to drop his gun, the suspect pointed the weapon at the good Samaritan and was met with gun fire.

In the subsequent shoot out, one of the men — identified as Chauncey Davis — was injured. Davis was rushed to St. Francis Hospital where he was airlifted to the Regional Medical Center.

Davis was charged with aggravated robbery and aggravated assault.

The second suspect has not been identified at this time.

Property owners hold burglary suspect at gunpoint
    OKLAHOMA CITY (KOKH) —

A homeowner held a burglary suspect at gunpoint after encountering the man on his property.

Around 11 a.m. June 17 a man was driving by his property in the 10100 block of E. Memorial Road when he observed some property stacked by the gate. The man stated that the property belonged to his father-in-law who had passed away a decade ago. The property has had multiple burglaries and is locked with "No trespassing" signs posted.

The man later came back to the property to check on it. While checking on the stack of property he was approached by 31-year-old Jonathan Edward Green. The property owner then pulled out his firearm and ordered Green to stay where he was.

Police were then called to the scene. When police arrived, the property owner's wife was also on scene holding the suspect at bay with her firearm. A female suspect was believed to be on the property but was never found by police.

Authorities believe the suspect had gathered approximately $500-worth of property from the home.

Green was later arrested on a complaint of burglary in the second degree.

Police: Parkland woman shoots 16-year-old intruder in home, says he kept yelling ‘I’m so high!’

PARKLAND, Wash. — A Parkland woman shot an alleged teenage home intruder in the arm and said he kept yelling “I’m so high” until he collapsed on her floor, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.

The suspect, a 16-year-old boy, was rushed to the hospital with a serious gunshot wound to one arm and an exit wound on his shoulder blade.

The department said deputies responded at 3:15 a.m. Saturday to a 911 call from a woman who said she had just an unknown intruder inside her home on 118th Street South in Parkland.

“The homeowner told the deputies that her husband was out of town for business and she had been asleep in bed when her two dogs started barking. The victim said that she then heard a scratching sound, so she looked from her bedroom down her hallway and saw an unknown man inside her home,” the department said.

“The victim said that the man started walking toward her bedroom, so she armed herself with a handgun and told the suspect not to move. She said the man continued to walk toward her so she fired a warning shot to the side of him; she said the suspect was unfazed by the warning shot and continued to approach her, and fearing for her life she aimed at the suspect and fired a second shot, striking him in the arm.

“The victim said she held the injured suspect at gunpoint and called 911 to report the intruder. She told deputies that while they were en route, the suspect kept yelling ‘I’m so high’ until he collapsed on the floor by her front door.”

The department said deputies found a bullet hole in one of the windows of the home, which appears to be from the warning shot fired by the victim.

“Deputies also discovered that one of the front bedroom windows was open and presumably was used by the suspect to enter the home,” the department said.

The 16-year-old boy will be booked on one count of Residential Burglary once he is released from the hospital, the department said.

Homeowner takes quick action when police chase comes into neighborhood

EAST POINT, Ga. - An East Point homeowner decided to get involved when a police chase came into his neighborhood.

The man's 10-year-old son was recording when the vehicle being pursued sped down their street.

Minutes later, the homeowner said he was face-to-face with a suspect.

"I don't want to shoot somebody, first of all. So I shot into the ground, and I shot the second time knowing that police are going to hear this, and sure enough, like after that happened, that's when they all came to that area," the man said.

The man said he slowed the suspect down enough just for police to catch up.

What happened next and why police were chasing the suspects in the first place, on Channel 2 Action News Nightbeat at 11 p.m.

Auto Repair Shop Owner Shoots, Wounds Intruder
By Patrick HealyPublished 3 hours ago | Updated 24 minutes ago

The owner of an auto repair shop in Temple City had been burglarized three times in recent weeks so he'd been sleeping in his shop with a .380 pistol close at hand just in case they came back.

When two men broke into his shop early Monday, he shot and wounded one of them, then held him until deputies arrived to make an arrest.

"You can only take so much," said Bob, who NBC4 is not naming out of concerns for his safety.

Bob said he was awakened at 3:45 a.m. Monday when the thieves came in.

"As soon as they came in, I was able to shoot," he said.

When Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies arrived, they saw Bob holding one of the two suspects on the ground, said Lt. Tom McNeal, of the Sheriff's Department.

He said the injured man was crying for help and wanted him to call his wife.

"He was yelling at me, 'Why did you shoot me?'" Bob said.

The other suspect took off in a car, lost control and veered onto the curb a half a block away before running into a home. Deputies found him in a front yard and arrested him.

McNeal said it appears the shipowner's use of force was justified.

Chaotic 911 call details moment Oklahoma couple shoots intruder in the chest

Chaotic 911 call: Oklahoma couple shoots intruder in his chest

NORMAN, Okla. - A couple took matters into their own hands when they discovered a burglar in their home, shooting him while police were on the way.

The couple woke up around 3:30 a.m. to the sound of Jerrold Allery Jr., the alleged burglar, rifling through cabinets in their home.

The woman pulled her handgun out of her dresser and loaded it in the dark. She said she’s had extensive training with the weapon after a previous home invasion.

However, she decided to give the gun to her military-trained husband, and the two confronted Allery together in the kitchen. They were determined not to be victims and to defend their home.

They said they told him to lay down but he refused. The woman called police and, on the 911 call, both can be heard ordering him to lay down.

Allery allegedly continued walking away from them, refusing to lay down, until he walked up the steps leading out of the sun room. There, he reached a door he couldn’t open while, below him, the couple continued to yell at him.

That’s when he turned around and, according to the affidavit, “began moving towards” the man with the gun. That’s when the homeowner shot Allery in the chest.

“Their safety was obviously at risk,” said Sarah Jensen with the Norman Police Department, “and they felt like the only way to ensure their safety was to fire the handgun.”

Allery was transported to the OU Medical Center and treated for his wound. He was arrested and charged with burglary.

The couple is not facing charges.
