Off-duty Memphis cop shoots, kills road rage attacker who stabbed him
By Magnolia State Live Email the author Published 6:39 am Wednesday, February 20, 2019

An off-duty Memphis Police officer shot and killed a man who stabbed the officer in the neck Tuesday afternoon in a road rage incident.

The two men were involved in the road rage incident near Hurt Road and Goodman Street in Horn Lake, just south of Memphis at approximately 4 p.m., Fox 13 TV news reported.

The two drivers apparently pulled into a Walgreens drug store parking lot. That’s when one driver approached the other and stabbed him in the neck.

The stabbed man, who was an off-duty police officer with the Memphis Police Department, apparently pulled a gun and shot the man with the knife once in the chest.

The officer was not identified because the police said he was the victim in the case. The police officer was transported to an area hospital where he was listed in critical condition late Tuesday.

Death of man shot by homeowner ruled ‘justifiable homicide’ - News - The Courier-Tribune - Asheboro, NC
    Feb 15 at 1:58 PM
LEXINGTON — A fatal shooting that took place in December has been ruled a justifiable homicide, according to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives with the sheriff’s office Criminal Investigations Division completed and submitted the findings of their investigation regarding the Dec. 20 death of Silvestre Begley, 21, to the District Attorney’s office Wednesday,

The DA’s office ruled the matter a “justifiable homicide,” which means the homeowner who shot and killed Begley will not face any charges in the death.

On Dec. 20, deputies were dispatched to a report of an attempted home invasion and shooting at 123 Upton St., Lexington, at approximately 9:30 p.m.

Officers with the Lexington Police Department were the first to arrive on the scene. They located a male, identified as Begley, in the front yard of the residence, deceased as a result of a single gunshot wound.

Deputies and detectives with the sheriff’s office took over the investigation.

The homeowner reported that an armed individual attempted to enter his residence and he shot that individual, identified as Begley, in self-defense.

Begley was pronounced deceased at the scene by EMS paramedics.

It was reported that Begley and the homeowner did not know each other

Thieves suspected of stealing rifle flee when man confronts them with pistol
    CAPE CORAL
A neighbor with a gun confronted two accused thieves in a residential area of Cape Coral Monday afternoon.

It all started when a dad said he spotted the two teenagers in hoodies standing near his northwest Cape Coral home.

“It just caught me off guard when two hooded people at 1 o’clock in the day standing in the bushes talking,” said Jeff, who requested his last name remain anonymous.

Ten minutes later, when Jeff went outside to smoke a cigarette, the sketchy teenagers were holding a rifle.

Police said the rifle was stolen from the home next door. That is when Jeff said he dashed back inside his house and retrieved his pistol.

“I was just watching them the whole time with the gun,” Jeff said. “Then, he looked back right there to see if I still had my gun on him… and I’m like drop the gun or I’m gonna shoot you!”

Jeff’s order spooked the teenagers enough that the pair started running. At one point during their dash to freedom, the teenagers accidentally fired off a shot from the stolen rifle. Moments later, they tossed it into a pepper bush.

Police would arrest the suspects. McKenzie Silverman, 18, and a 15-year-old boy face Armed Burglary and Grand Theft Charges.

Witnesses said the minor knew the family he is suspected of stealing it from.

Either way, Jeff said he was not going to let the pair get away with their suspected crime. Even though he thought the two kids were being “stupid,” he wasn’t going to let it happen near his family.

“He wouldn’t drop the gun though and he just kept turning back with it,” Jeff said. “I’m like drop the *bleep* gunman.”

Deylen Scott Loos, left, and Peaqrl Naomi Adair
An Oregon man helped local law enforcement detain two Idahoans accused of trespassing in a Baker County residence on Monday, according to a news release.

The Baker County Sheriff’s Office said in a release that Lessie and Olive Phillips noticed an unfamiliar car parked in the driveway of their neighbor’s home on Vandecar Road in Durkee, Oregon. At around 9 p.m. on Monday, Lessie called the neighbors, who use the residence part time, and confirmed that the house should be empty.

Olive Phillips then took his shotgun, went to the neighbor’s house and ordered the trespassers to leave. He then held the individuals at gunpoint outside the home until sheriff’s deputies arrived.

According to the news release, 33-year-old Deylen Scot Loos, of Meridian, and 38-year-old Pearl Naomi Adair, of Boise, “had been at the residence for an extended period of time.”

Both were arrested and charged with burglary, criminal mischief and theft.

Loos has prior convictions in Ada and Gem counties for possession of controlled substances and drug paraphernalia. Adair was previously convicted of forgery and possession of drug paraphernalia in Ada County.

Idaho officer killed in Layton shooting was on leave for ‘domestic incident’

Idaho Falls Police officer dies in Layton shooting

LAYTON, Utah — An officer with the Idaho Falls Police Department died Thursday night after he was shot at a home in Layton.

A spokesman for Layton Police said Blaine Reed was shot near 300 W Park St, inside the home of a 34-year-old man he knew.

"The man who was shot came to the Park Avenue residence to confront the homeowner about a relationship he believed the homeowner was having with his ex-girlfriend. The man entered the home uninvited, a physical altercation ensued between the two men, and the homeowner shot the man several times," a news release from Layton PD said.

Reed was taken to Intermountain Hospital in Layton, where he was pronounced dead.

A spokeswoman for Idaho Falls Police said Reed was on administrative leave and had not served as a police officer since November.

Reed was placed on leave because he had been charged with crimes related to a "domestic incident" in October, the IFPD spokeswoman said.

Police said the man who shot Reed is cooperating with the investigation and no arrests have been made.

Reed's department issued this statement Friday:

"The Idaho Falls Police Department was notified last night of the death of Blaine Reed, who had served with the Idaho Falls Police Department. We are saddened by the news of his passing and the events surrounding this tragic situation. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those involved."

A Facebook post from the Idaho Falls Fraternal Order of Police indicates Reed was given a lifesaving award in May of 2016. East Idaho News reports Reed received the award for saving a man who had overdosed.

DUBUQUE, Iowa (KCRG) - Three men are facing charges after police said they broke into a Dubuque home intending to assault a man, but the suspects entered the wrong house and were confronted by an armed homeowner.

Police responded to a home in the 1600 block of Main Street at about 12:30 a.m. Thursday following a report of a home invasion. The homeowner told police he heard someone slamming on his front door and attempting to enter his home. He went to another area of his house to retrieve a handgun, returned to the entrance and confronted the three suspects that had entered his home. The suspects fled the home once they realized the homeowner had a gun.

Hunter Poole, 20; Laterian Williams, 20; and Antonio Vilchis, 20, all of Dubuque, were arrested a short time later. Police said the men had entered the wrong home and the homeowner was not the man they planned to confront.

All three men are charged with second-degree burglary.

Police investigating alleged home invasion in Cleveland
    February 25, 2019

    By Vanesa Brashier, editor@bluebonnetnews.com

A homeowner reportedly claims that he was shot during an alleged home invasion around 10:50 p.m. Sunday in the 600 block of Easy Street in the Advantage Mobile Home Park in Cleveland.

According to Capt. Scott Felts, spokesperson for Cleveland Police Department, the male homeowner told police that several subjects kicked in his door and a struggle ensued.

“The homeowner was shot in the forearm. The intruders fled as the homeowner shot at their fleeing vehicle. He thinks he shot the passenger side or rear window of the vehicle, described as a mid to late model Chevy Silverado, tan or green in color,” Felts said.

    Austin Bank

The homeowner claims there were between three and five intruders. However, so far he has not given the police a detailed description of any of the subjects.

“It’s an ongoing investigation and we still have a lot of details to uncover,” Felts said.

Bleep) you, redneck!’ Smelly teen runs from armed Macon homeowner
    Joe Kovac Jr.

Shortly after 4 o’clock on a recent Friday morning, a north Macon man’s carport security light switched on and he soon spotted what a sheriff’s report would describe as “an unknown” male inside his GMC Yukon. The homeowner, 36, grabbed a gun, stepped outside and chased the teenage prowler away. A Bibb County sheriff’s deputy’s write-up of the episode noted that the prowler, 17, was accompanied by a teenage girl. As the pair fled and the homeowner hollered for them to stop, the 17-year-old reportedly yelled back, “(Expletive) you, redneck!” The homeowner, in describing the culprits to the sheriff’s deputy after the pair ran off, said the “male subject had a very bad body odor and the smell lingered in his carport.” The Feb. 8 encounter happened on Maplewood Drive, which parallels Wesleyan Drive west of Forest Hill Road. A neighbor who was familiar with the 17-year-old suspect helped the cops identify the young male and his accomplice. Some of the helpful information was that the male was living at a nearby Motel 6 and that he “smelled really bad.”
