3 today, this guy shot an intruder last month and it sounds like a firearm for protection is something he was glad to have again.

Police investigating another suspicious incident at home of man who shot intruder last month

CALUMET TOWNSHIP — Lake County sheriff's police on Tuesday found footprints leading to and from a garage and tools scattered in the garage at the property of a man who shot a would-be burglar last month, a spokesman said.

Nothing appeared to be taken and no shots were fired in the latest suspicious incident at the 66-year-old man's home in the 6100 block of West 41st Avenue, sheriff's spokesman Emiliano Perez said.

Sheriff's police responded to the property about 10:30 p.m. for a report of someone trying to break in to the home. The homeowner told police his dog alerted him to someone on his property, Perez said.

Two Gary men were charged this month in connection with a burglary Nov. 28 at the property, Lake Criminal Court records show.

The 66-year-old homeowner shot and wounded Leventes A. Strong, 24, of Gary, on Nov. 28 after Strong entered the home, a probable cause affidavit states. The homeowner told police he fired his .380-caliber handgun after he saw someone emerge from his kitchen, thought he heard a shotgun being racked and saw the person aim the shotgun at him.

Strong was shot in the groin area, dropped the shotgun and fled the home, court records say.

Strong and Nicholas J. Reeves, 24, of Gary, later told police they broke into the home because they heard the residence had "a lot of guns" to sell, the probable cause affidavit states.

Strong and Reeves each face two counts of burglary and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm as a serious violent felon.

Redwood City Man Shoots, Kills Dog In Attack: Police

REDWOOD CITY, CA — A 76-year-old Redwood City man shot and killed his own large dog while he was walking the animal on the Peninsula this week, the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office reported Thursday. The incident happened after the "large Mastiff" began to attack his owner for no apparent reason, according to law enforcement officials.

It all unfolded around 2 p.m. Wednesday in the 1300 block of Elmer Street, in the unincorporated area of Belmont, according to sheriff's Det. Sal Zuno. The man, who was not identified, told police he was attacked while walking his dog.

"The attack did not stop until the man pulled out a handgun, shot and killed the dog," Zuno said in a news release.

When authorities got to the scene, they found the man with dog bite injuries on his leg — and the dead Masiff's remains.

The man was taken to the Emergency Room for treatment and is cooperating with sheriff's officials, according to the detective.

"[He] is expected to recover from his injuries," Zuno told Patch.

The Peninsula Humane Society was soon summoned to the scene. They took the remains and confirmed the animal "had previous reported bites," Zuno said.

Zuno said the incident is still under investigation and the gun used "was secured and collected as evidence."

Man indicted for murder of accomplice in Huntsville home invasion

Man indicted for murder of accomplice in Huntsville home
HUNTSVILLE, Tex. (KBTX) - A Prairie View man is on the run wanted for murder. Back in April investigators say two men broke into a Huntsville home. The home owner opened fire killing one of them. Now, the other burglar is facing a murder charge.

Shots rang out in the quiet neighborhood of Elkins Lake in April. Investigators say 40-year-old Tyrone Harris and 39-year-old Holice Dun Cook were robbing a house in the 1900 block of Green Briar Drive when the owner returned home. Both were shot and Cook died at the scene.

On December 21st, a Walker County Grand Jury indicted Harris for his death.

"The homeowner was actually engaged, was growing marijuana. It was a home invasion. He wasn't there. He came back, found the door broken open, armed himself and then confronted the two suspects. And this is a felony murder. A murder in course of committing another felony," said David Weeks, Walker County District Attorney.

Weeks said police can't find Harris.

"We have not located him. They found him in the hospital, talked to him but he got out before we brought charges," he said.

Weeks said they still don't know how Harris got to Memorial Hermann Hospital in The Woodlands after the home invasion.

News 3 stopped by and met the homeowner where the crimes happened. He had no comment.

"It's a pretty unique fact pattern here that we're going to have to deal with, but I feel comfortable about it," said Weeks.

"They should have seen this coming. I mean, If you're going to go in somebody's home, you ought to expect, anticipate that someone could be there and they could be armed and they made that mistake," he said.

Harris faces five to 99 years in prison if he's convicted of murder, but his case can't proceed until he's found and taken into custody. The homeowner is not facing any charges for the shooting or for the small amount of marijuana found in his home.

Harris was also indicted for burglary of a habitation. Harris served about two and a half years in Texas prison for two counts of robbery in Jefferson County

I don’t normally include stories where people take guns from their attacker, but I think this shows that a gun is a equalizer for women.

4 today. Two sides to the story here, but the police seem to be siding with the woman who shot the man for now.

Sheriff's office: Arkansan tells deputies wife shot him during argument; he's later cited

A man told police his wife shot him in their Arkansas home during an argument that started while they were having sex early Friday, according to a report.

About 1:30 a.m., Drew County deputies responded to a disturbance at a residence in the 100 block of Cook Lane in Monticello. There, 44-year-old Kenny Ray Lloyd was in the passenger seat of a vehicle, about to head to the hospital for treatment, authorities said.

Instead, the man, who officers noted appeared intoxicated, escorted police inside the residence. He said he and his wife, Regina Kaye Lloyd, 49, were having sex when she accused him of sleeping with someone else, the report states.

Kenny Ray Lloyd said he told her he wouldn't be spending the night at home, then got dressed and went out and started his vehicle. When he tried to go back into the house to get cigarettes, he said, his wife told him "this is the last time" and shot him, hitting him in the right armpit area.

The man was later treated for the wound at Drew Memorial Hospital, according to the report.

Police spoke with Regina Kaye Lloyd, who said her husband had hit her in the head while they were talking in bed, then threatened to kill her when he tried to get back into the house. Deputies noted that she had marks on her face and left rib cage, which she said were from him pushing her into a coffee table.

Kenny Ray Lloyd was cited on a third-degree domestic battery charge, according to the report.

    http://www.bigcountryhomepage.com/ne...oint/891305799
AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR) — A 75-year-old Amarillo woman fought off two armed suspects who robbed her home.

Amarillo police said the incident happened just before 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 26 on Montclair Drive.

Responding officers said the victim told them she heard repeated knocking and went to her front door. She asked the person outside if something was wrong, and they told her there was, and she opened the door.

The victim told police the suspect at the door was pointing a handgun at her. That is when she backed into her home, the armed suspect following her, and a second suspect entered the home. The men held her face away from them and tied her wrists behind her with cord or cloth and warned her not to move.

She also told officials when the armed suspect was not behind her, she pulled her wrists free. She tried to gain control of the gun that the man was still holding. During the struggle for the weapon, both fell to the floor and the man dropped the pistol. The victim said she got up and retrieved her handgun from a nightstand.

Police said both suspects fled and no shots were fired. The victim told officers the suspects stole a television, laptop and some documents from her purse.

The woman had injuries to her forearms, hands and face during the robbery. She was treated at the scene.

Police told us the armed suspect was a male in his teens or twenties, wearing a dark colored knit cap. The suspects are believed to have been driving a white four-door vehicle a witness saw in the driveway during the robbery.

Two men arrested during a traffic stop have been connected to the home invasion.
