ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A man is dead after police say he broke into his ex-girlfriend’s Northeast Albuquerque apartment while armed and her new boyfriend shot him early Saturday morning.
Officer Simon Drobik, an Albuquerque Police Department spokesman, identified the man killed as 24-year-old Edward Ortega-Landros. He said the shooter, whose name was not released, is in custody and cooperating with police.

“On face value, that looks like a justifiable homicide,” Drobik said. “He feared for his life.”

Drobik didn’t say what Ortega-Landros was armed with.

Officers responded to the shooting around 2 a.m. in the 3800 block of Montgomery NE and found Ortega-Landros dead in an apartment.

Detectives learned the couple had recently broken up.

“She had kind of moved on and was with another boyfriend,” he said. “The estranged boyfriend, or husband, made it to her apartment and came in through the window.”

Drobik said while it appears a justifiable homicide, the decision will ultimately be made by the District Attorney’s Office.

    Ben Hutchison

What police say started as an armed robbery inside the Chicken Palace at 35th and National, turned into shots fired and a stolen BMW crashed against a pole.

It happened a little after 8 p.m. on Saturday.

According to police, a person wearing a mask entered the restaurant. During the attempted robbery, an employee pulled out a handgun and fired at the suspect.

That individual ran from the restaurant, and got into a stolen car. They didn't get very far, and crashed in an alley around the corner.

Suspected armed burglar arrested after fleeing deputies in Manatee Co.
By WFLA Web Staff Published: December 23, 2017, 2:09 pm Updated: December 23, 2017, 9:17 pm

SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) – A suspected armed burglar was arrested on Saturday after he tried to flee Sarasota and Manatee deputies.

Just before 3:30 p.m., deputies say the man tried to steal a motorcycle from a home on Grand Cayman Street.

He is accused of pointing a gun at the homeowner. He then ran away when the homeowner confronted him and pointed his own gun at the suspect.

Sarasota Sheriff’s deputies were called to the 2700 block of Grand Cayman Street following reports of shots fired. Fortunately, no one was injured in the process.

Investigators say the suspect then went to a home on nearby Dueby Street pointed his gun at the homeowner and demanded their car keys.

According to deputies, that homeowner also went and got his own gun and pointed it at the suspect. The suspect then ran away from the second home.

Detectives issued an arrest warrant for 30-year-old Kyle Vickers and he was located in Manatee County the next day. With the assistance of the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, Sarasota detectives arrested Vickers following a brief pursuit.

They’re charging him with Armed Burglary, Grand Theft, and Home Invasion.

No further details are available at this time.

TULSA--TPD is investigating a shooting near 11th and 129th E Ave. Officers say a possible road rage incident escalated into that shooting around 4:15 Sunday afternoon which began at a QuikTrip between two men.

When they reached the intersection at 11th and 129th E Ave in their vehicles, officers say the driver of the pick-up truck pulled out his gun. The other man involved saw the weapon and pulled his gun out, and fired at the truck several times.

The victim said to be in his 60's was struck in the left arm, and the bullet traveled to his shoulder. He was taken to the hospital and said to be in stable condition.

Police say racial slurs may have been said during this alleged road rage incident and are investigating if the man who shot the gun was acting in self defense after seeing the gun pulled on him.

We will keep you updated on this developing story.

Boyfriend, estranged husband killed in domestic dispute in Breckinridge Co.
    Wednesday, December 20th 2017, 5:44 am EST

HUDSON, KY (WAVE) - Two people are dead following a shooting in Breckinridge County.

The shooting was reported 484 Centerview-Rough River Road in Hudson around 12:15 a.m. Wednesday, according to Sheriff Todd Pate.

When Kentucky State Police officials arrived, they found Donny Peek, 60, of Westview, and Jeffrey Moore, 55, of Harned, both dead in the driveway, according to KSP.

Police said late Wednesday that Peek was the live-in boyfriend of Theresa Moore, who lives at the Hudson residence with her son Jonathan Masterson, 28.

Peek and Theresa Moore were in a domestic dispute when her estranged husband, Jeffrey Moore, arrived and began to fight Peek, according to a KSP news release. Peek then shot Moore.

Police said Masterson attempted to help Moore when Peek allegedly fired a shot at him. Masterson then pulled out a gun and fired it multiple times at Peek, according to the release.

"It's just a tragedy anytime there's two people, two lives gone and there's no good time of the year for this to happen," Sheriff Pate said. "Sometimes heat of the moment, sometimes some things just happen really quickly before people have time to think."

Police believe this was an isolated incident, despite a homicide in November. They also said they are familiar with the home and have responded there before but are unable to say in what capacity.

Kentucky State Police are investigating the shooting.

Club Owner Shoots Patron Who Shot at Him in West Mississippi
A man has been killed in a nightclub shooting in western Mississippi.

UTICA, Miss. (AP) — Mississippi authorities say a nightclub patron has been shot and killed after shooting at the owner.

The Hinds County sheriff says that when owner Marvin Ross tried to break up a fight among patrons, one of them shot at him and missed— and Ross then shot the man twice.

Sheriff Victor Mason says in a news release that 33-year-old Alonzo Brown died at a hospital.

Mason says nobody else was injured.

He says Brown shot at Ross after the club owner turned off the music shortly after midnight Monday and told patrons of Evelyn's Place near Utica to "pull up their pants and stop fighting."

Mason says investigators will work with the Hinds County District Attorney's Office to present the case to a grand jury.

This story has been corrected to show the man who was killed was a club patron, not its owner.
