Marion County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of shots fired and found two of the suspects dead while detaining two others near the scene, Ocala.com reported.

The homeowner, whose name was not released by the Sheriff’s Office, was also injured and reported in stable condition at a local hospital.

According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Nigel Doyle, 22, of Summerfield, and Keith Jackson Jr., 21, of Ocala, were killed.

Deputies found Doyle with a gunshot wound and a shotgun next to him on the ground. Deputies entered the home and found Jackson dead on the dining room floor. Detectives said Jackson was wearing a “Jason” mask on top of his head and gloves on both hands. Near Jackson’s head was a semi-automatic pistol, detectives said.

Continuing into the home, deputies found the injured 61-year-old homeowner in a bedroom. The homeowner was bleeding from a gunshot wound to the stomach, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The homeowner told Marion County Sheriff’s Office officials that he was awakened by a loud noise and grabbed his AR-15, which was near his bed. He saw a masked person inside the home, he said, and he and the intruders exchanged gunfire. He said he shot at the man in the mask and at a second person coming toward him.

Doyle and the homeowner were transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center, where Doyle died.

Two other suspects — Robert John Hamilton, 19, of Ocala, and Seth Adam Rodriguez, 22, of Belleview — were detained near the scene, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputy Austin Coon and K-9 Deputy Alberto Gago, with his dog Nitro, found and detained Rodriguez and Hamilton, according to arrest reports.

Detectives said there are no charges against the homeowner and nothing prevents him from owning guns.

7-ELEVEN STORE OWNER SHOT DURING ROBBERY OVERNIGHT

    https://newsmaven.io/charlottealerts...UyrHREwEt6Q-w/

A man was killed just last month during a 7-11 robbery.

On September 9, 2019 officers were called around 3 a.m. to the 7-Eleven on the intersection of Monroe Road and North Sharon Amity Road in Charlotte, NC.

A brazen male suspect proceeded to rob the business and jump over the counter. The store owner then pulled out a gun and shot the suspect.

The suspect fired shots back which hit the owner. Blood spilled onto the floor from the bullet wounds.

The suspect ran away to a nearby parking lot, but he left a trail of blood, making it easy for a K-9 dog unit to track down the bleeding suspect. He was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.

The store owner was also taken to the hospital.

DA: No charges in Central Point farm shooting death
    MEDFORD, Ore. —

The Jackson County District Attorney ruled a fatal shooting at a Central Point property in June was self defense and no charges are expected to be filed against the shooter.

Robert Mitchell Jr, 47, who lived in the 200-block of Hanley Road where the incident occurred June 6 died after being shot by Vanessa Marroquin.

"The evidence collected supports the (33-year-old) shooter's claim that she was acting in self-defense," Lucy Durst, Deputy District Attorney said in a press release.

Under Oregon law, a person is justified in using deadly physical force against another if the person reasonably believes that person is about to use deadly physical force against the person (ORS 161.219). The individual's belief of the perceived threat must be objectively reasonable as judged from the standpoint of a reasonable person.

"Here, the State cannot disprove that Vanessa Marroquin reasonably believed that Robert Mitchell Jr.'s use of unlawful force was imminent and that she acted to avoid imminent injury or death," Durst said.

    Investigation

On June 6, 2019, at approximately 6:04 am, Marroquin called 911 and reported that her boyfriend, Mitchell, had been hitting her with an axe and that she shot him. Officers arrived on scene and took Marroquin into custody.

"Marroquin advised she and Mitchell had been in an argument the previous evening, and the argument stopped when he left the location. At that time, Marroquin took a revolver from her vehicle because she was concerned that Mitchell could snap and that when he does, he doesn't know when to stop," Durst said.

According to the release, approximately three hours later, Mitchell returned to the property. When Mitchell returned, Marroquin was at the property in a warehouse with three other individuals. Mitchell came to the warehouse and Marroquin could immediately tell he was very angry. Mitchell walked up to Marroquin, grabbed her, and began pulling her from the warehouse.

"Marroquin described Mitchell shoving her, kicking her, knocking her down to the ground, dragging her by her arm and hair, and taking her towards a car located -700 feet from the warehouse. Marroquin told officers Mitchell had an axe that he struck her with repeatedly, while dragging her to the car," Durst said. "As Mitchell and Marroquin approached the car, Mitchell threw her down to the ground and began rummaging through the car looking for something. Marroquin believed she was in danger of being seriously assaulted or killed by Mitchell. At this time, Marroquin took out the revolver and pointed it towards Mitchell, firing one time."

According to the release, Marroquin then ran back towards the warehouse; worried Mitchell would chase after her. At the warehouse, Marroquin told the others what had happened, and she called 911. A Deputy Medical Examiner arrived on scene and confirmed Mitchell was deceased. Three other identified individuals that were present the night of the incident were interviewed, and their statements corroborated Marroquin's.

"Detectives searched the area and located the axe described by Marroquin. Detectives also located the firearm used by Marroquin and confirmed a single round had been fired. They were unable to locate the bullet," Durst said.

During the investigation, detectives learned Marroquin and Mitchell had been in a relationship since October 2018.

    History of domestic abuse

"Marroquin told detectives of multiple past incidents where Mitchell would grab her by the hair, throw her around, or grab her by the throat and squeeze. In one recent incident, Marroquin sought medical care for the injuries she sustained from Mitchell because she was worried the assault had crushed her windpipe after having difficulty breathing and swallowing," Durst said.

Review of those medical records verified that Marroquin visited the emergency department on April 29, 2019, due to bruising and neck pain.

"Marroquin told the doctor Mitchell had punched her in the face, choked her, and at one point, knocked her to the ground causing her to lose consciousness. The doctor observed bruising throughout her extremities," Durst said. "In another incident during their relationship, Mitchell asked Marroquin if she ever thought about leaving him. When Marroquin responded that she did at times, Mitchell threatened her saying she could never leave him and that if she did he would take her into the woods and it would be a "hostage situation." Marroquin believed Mitchell was referring to taking her into the woods and killing her."

According to the release, Marroquin consented to a search of her cell phone. On her phone was a file with 21 images. Marroquin told officers these were images documenting past abuse by Mitchell. The images showed Marroquin with bruises on various body parts from past dates.

"Detectives also interviewed Marroquin's friends who each described past incidents of Mitchell assaulting Marroquin and observing injuries on Marroquin," Durst said.

Investigation further showed that Mitchell has 18 prior arrest cycles in the State of Oregon, to include violent person felonies and weapons convictions. Marroquin has no known criminal historY

Summerville man shot, killed brother in self-defense, police say
    Live 5 Web Staff
SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCSC) - Summerville police are treating a deadly shooting Tuesday night as self-defense, according to police spokesman Shaun Tumbleston.

Officers arrived at 5:57 p.m. to the house in the 100 block of Salisbury Drive.

According to the incident report, dispaters told officers headed to the scene that the shooter was on the phone with 9-1-1 and told them that he just shot his brother.

Paul Felkel Rush, 53, of Summerville was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Dorchester County coroner.

“Come on, stay with me! Stay with me!,” Paul’s brother can be heard saying in the 911 calls. "My brother attacked me, so I had to shoot him. Hurry up and get here!”

When officers arrived, they found Paul’s brother in the yard waving them down and took him into custody. Officers then found Paul Rush on the ground inside the house and unsuccessfully tried to revive him.

“...Why did you make me do that? WHY? Why did you make me do it, Paul? PAUL! PAUL! PAUL!,” the brother can be heard saying in another audio clip from the 911 call.

The autopsy is scheduled for Thursday morning at MUSC.

Both Summerville police and the Dorchester County coroner’s office are investigating.

Victim’ in South Side Shooting Charged with Robbery

DES MOINES, Iowa – Court documents filed earlier this week are revealing why attempted murder charges were dropped against two people involved in a southside shooting that injured two people back in August — and why one of the alleged victims is now facing charges.

The shooting took place on August 27th in the 1100 block of Army Post Road. Police initially arrested 21-year-old Corey Brown and 24-year-old Charity Ramer, of Grimes, on attempted murder charges.

Police said at the time they were involved in an argument with two panhandlers and one of the panhandlers hit Ramer in the face and that’s when Brown shot at them. Both suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Last week, the attempted murder charges against Ramer and Brown were dropped when more evidence was brought to light.

A criminal complaint filed Monday for one of the panhandlers, Michael Brooks, claims he and Ferdinand Johnson were in the process of robbing a man sitting inside a vehicle outside of a liquor store when Ramer and Brown interrupted the crime. The complaint says Johnson had a gun and pointed it at Ramer and Brown, then hit Ramer in the face with it.

That’s when Brown, who also had a gun, shot Johnson in self-defense. Brooks was also grazed by a bullet fired by Brown.

The complaint alleges Brooks took the gun Johnson had used during the robbery and hid it nearby before police arrived.

Brooks is now charged with first-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit a forcible felony, and possession of a weapon by a felon.

Johnson has not been charged in the case but police say more arrests are expected.

Man identified in fatal Cherokee County shooting

An area man was shot to death Tuesday night by a woman who says she was defending herself.

Cherokee County sheriff’s deputies responded to a shooting report on West Clyde Maher Road Tuesday night. A woman called 911 and told dispatchers she had shot a burglar. When deputies arrived, they found Josh Montgomery lying dead in the driveway.

Undersheriff Jason Chennault confirmed that Montgomery was dead from two gunshot wounds.

Ginger Snow told deputies a man had started banging on the doors and windows at her residence. She didn’t know who the man was and told him to leave. She said he “backed off” into a yard but then returned to her house, this time even more aggressive.

Snow said she armed herself with a gun and opened the door. She said when the man threatened to kill her, she fired shots into the air to scare him. She said the man started to come at her and she fired at least two shots, killing him.

Chennault said the evidence and witness statements line up with what the Snow said. She was licensed to carry a weapon, and she was not arrested on the advice of Cherokee County District Attorney Jack Thorp.

It happened in the 19300 block of Algonac, which is near Seven Mile and Outer Drive, at a home where the victim is a medical marijuana caregiver.

The homeowner was hit, and his wife saw what was happening and shot back at the suspects.

The suspects were able to escape from the home and it's not known right now if either of them were hurt.

The husband, who we're told is 61 years old, was taken to the hospital and is in temporary serious condition right now.

Oklahoma homeowner holds wanted man at gunpoint

Homeowner holds wanted suspect at gunpoint

GUTHRIE, Okla. - Rebecca Pittman was home doing laundry when she looked out the window and was face-to-face with a suspect on the run from police.

“See how tall he must’ve been? Because I was looking right at his face,” she said, showing News 4 where it all happened.

Lawrence Lewis was on the run from police after he allegedly robbed a Dollar General in Edmond on Saturday.

On Monday morning, Rebecca Pittman found him in her garage.

“I was thinking I was gonna see raccoons honestly, and then I saw somebody I didn’t know, and I was like ahhh! How do I react?” said Pittman.

She says she immediately ran to grab her father who was inside their house at the time.

“I ran and told my dad I was like, 'There’s somebody in the garage. I think it could be that guy,'" she said. "He grabbed his gun and said, 'Call the police'.”

Her father kept Lewis on the ground until police arrived and arrested him.

Court documents say Lewis was in Oklahoma with his girlfriend who was already behind bars. The duo's crime spree started in Texas with a chase. They're accused of stealing two cars before driving to the Edmond area.

Homeowners have been on edge since they first heard over the weekend that Lewis could be hiding in their neighborhood.

“I was terrified. I was like oh my gosh, this is happening right next door,” said neighbor Nicole Hope. “It’s crazy. You think you’re going to move out here to the country and you don’t think things are going to happen like that."

Pittman says if her dad wasn't around, the outcome could've been very different.

I don’t think fear is in him. He just grabbed his gun and went out there like it was nothing, ordered him to the ground and the guy thankfully didn’t do anything,” said Pittman.

Pittman says her 11-year-old daughter was home at the time, but stayed in her room with the door locked and is safe.

Lewis is now in the Oklahoma County Jail.
