    Krista Monk
WILCOX CO., GA (WALB) - A fox that attacked two people and a family pet has tested positive for rabies, according to the Wilcox County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office said that the victims were attacked on Tuesday on American Legion Road.

The sheriff said both people have already started treatment with their doctors.

Officials said the fox was shot and killed by a neighbor before Wild Life Management was able to set a trap to catch it for testing.

Minerville Police investigate a reported home invasion
    Rachael Espaillat
MINERSVILLE, SCHUYLKILL COUNTY - (WBRE/ WYOU)- Police are investigating a home invasion after a 12 year old boy says he shot at an intruder in Schuylkill County.

Police went to a home on the 400 block of Carbon Street in Minersville, around 10:00 this morning.

The boy told police he shot a 22 caliber riffle at the intruder after he believed the invader reached for a gun.

He said he believes he hit the intruder in the shoulder or chest area before he fled.

The boy described the suspect to be about six feet tall and wearing a black ski mask.

Because the incident was close to an elementary school, three schools were on placed on lock down.

"[The boy] said he was startled and heard a noise downstairs. Came down to find a male in his doorway standing. He was armed with a 22 caliber riffle. He informed the male to leave the home. Which he did not. He believed the male was reaching for a gun at his waistband. That is when he tells me he fired a shot," Patrolman Jeffery Bowers, of Minersville Borough Police Department said.

Police say they haven't found any evidence proving a person was shot but are continuing to investigate. Police checked with hospitals and no person has come in with gunshot wounds at this time.
Police say the public not in any danger at this time.

Robbery suspect shot by Cleveland cellphone store employee charged in separate hold-up
By Evan MacDonald, cleveland.comToday 2:47 PM
The owner of a Metro by T-Mobile store in Cleveland's Union-Miles neighborhood shot a man accused of trying to rob the store April 23, police said. The suspect is now charged in a second robbery that occurred four days earlier at another cellphone store.

CLEVELAND, Ohio – A Cleveland man shot by a Metro by T-Mobile employee during an attempted robbery also committed a hold-up days earlier at another cellphone store, court records say.

Amhad D. Jones, 25, is charged with aggravated robbery in an April 19 incident at a separate Metro by T-Mobile store on Kinsman Road near East 147th Street, according to court records.

Jones has been in custody since an employee shot him in the stomach, left leg and right hand April 23 at another of the chain’s locations on Harvard Avenue at East 93rd Street, according to police reports and court records.

He is being held in the Cuyahoga County Jail on $50,000 bond.

The latest charge accuses Jones of stealing several hundred dollars during the April 19 armed robbery, according to police reports.

In that incident, a robber walked into the cellphone store just after 5 p.m. and pointed a gun at an employee. He walked behind the counter and ordered the employee to open a register, police reports say.

The robber took the money before he left the store and ran north on East 147th Street.

Investigators have not said how they identified Jones as a suspect.

Jones has been in custody since a Metro by T-Mobile employee shot him April 23 at another store on Harvard Avenue at East 93rd Street, according to police reports and court records.

Surveillance video from the store showed Jones point a gun at the employee, police reports say. The employee, who told investigators he acted in self-defense and has a permit to carry a concealed weapon, was not charged in the incident.

The employee and the co-worker each told police that Jones came into the store and said he wanted to pay his phone bill. He pulled out a gun and told both employees not to move, police reports say.

One of the employees grabbed his own gun, and Jones threatened to kill him, police reports say. The employee fired three shots at Jones, who fell to the ground.

The employee kicked Jones’ gun away from him and asked the co-worker to call 911. Officers arrived to find Jones hurt on the ground behind the counter.

The surveillance video from the store was “extremely clear” and “mirrored” what the employee and his co-worker described, investigators wrote in police reports.

An ambulance took Jones to MetroHealth for treatment. He was later released and taken to the Cuyahoga County Jail.

A Cuyahoga County grand jury indicted him May 3 on charges of aggravated robbery, robbery and having weapons under disability. He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment, court records say.

DA Declines to Charge Pittsburg Fatal Shooting Suspect
Family of Sam Vehikite wants answers after DA says evidence supports self-defense claim

A Contra Costa County family is demanding answers after a man they say shot and killed their loved one is allowed to walk free. Jodi Hernandez reports. (Published Wednesday, May 15, 2019)

A Contra Costa County family is demanding answers after a man they say shot and killed their loved one is allowed to walk free.

The District Attorney’s Office declined to press charges against Jason Posey, 39, in the April 22 fatal shooting of 36-year-old Sam Vehikite, saying the evidence indicates it was self-defense.

Oni Vehikite said she and her family can’t understand why the man who shot and killed her brother is not facing any charges.

"It hurts me knowing he’s gone, the way he lost his life, and I want justice for him," Oni said.

Sam Vehikite was gunned down three weeks ago after an argument with Posey in front of a tire shop. It was all caught on camera.

"When he pulled out the gun the first time, it shows my brother backing up, and you see his hands open," Oni said. "He backed away, and he shot him anyway."

Once Vehikite was down, Posey is seen reaching in his backpack. Then, he appears to point the gun at him again.

"I don’t understand why this man is walking free," Vehikite's girlfriend Rose Maderos said. "It’s unreal, I can’t believe it."

Pittsburg police arrested Posey on murder charges and handed the case, including the surveillance video, over to the DA. But prosecutors say the evidence supports a claim of self-defense. Police said a knife was found near Vehikite’s body.

Vehikite’s family, including his two daughters, are now left without their sole supporter. They’re heartbroken and say they need justice.

"What more do they need if they have a whole video that shows everything that happened?" Oni said

WCSO: One Cold Springs robber may have been shot
    StaffThu 5:44 AM, May 16, 2019

COLD SPRINGS, NV (KOLO) - Washoe County Sheriff's deputies continue the search for three people involved in a residential armed robbery. They may be driving a black sedan last reported seen at the victim's home in Cold Springs, in the area of Aquamarine and Jutewood, and they are believed to have left the Cold Springs area.

Deputies say evidence indicates one of the robbers may have been shot by the homeowner, though no injuries have been reported.

No descriptions of the robbers have been released.

The incident began about 4AM Thursday, May 16, 2019, when deputies responded to a robbery in progress.

Residents in the area were briefly advised to shelter in place, but deputies don't believe there is still a threat to the public. They say this appears to be an isolated incident.

Wabash Trail homeowner opens fire on intruder in kitchen, two later arrested in burglary

    Karl EttersUpdated 2:22 p.m. ET May 17, 2019
Two suspects who traded gunshots with a Wabash Trail homeowner Wednesday used the victim’s stolen keys to enter the house.

Amarion Meeks, 16, and Tyree Tillman, 20, used the keys, which were stolen along with the victim's car days earlier, to enter the home at about 3:40 a.m., according to the Tallahassee Police Department.

Both men were charged with attempted murder and burglary with assault Friday morning. The Tallahassee Democrat identifies juveniles when they are charged with serious crimes.

Court records indicate that two other men, who have not been charged, also were involved in the home invasion.

TPD Spokesman Damon Miller could not comment on whether more arrests were expected, despite a second person being hospitalized with gunshot wounds likely from the home invasion.

The homeowner saw the armed suspects in the kitchen, retrieved a rifle and fired 25 shots at Meeks and Tillman. They returned fire and fled in a stolen car. They left behind clothing, jewelry and a stolen gun.

A blood trail was noted leaving the house.

About an hour later, TPD responded to a report of someone suffering gunshot wounds on south Adams Street, who turned out to be Meeks. Police said when they questioned him at the hospital he lied, saying he was shot by an unknown assailants as he walked down the street.

A stolen car was recovered later that morning near Tillman’s home. Inside officers found blood and spent shell casings that matched ones found at the Wabash Trail house.

Inside Tillman’s house, investigators found property stolen in other burglaries, ammunition and two handguns, one of which was stolen.

A third man, Jaylin Baldwin, was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon during the search.

Police outside a house in San Ysidro where the homeowner shot at a man he said tried to break into a shed where he stores weapons.

SAN DIEGO — A homeowner in San Ysidro shot at a man he saw breaking into a toolshed where he stores weapons early Friday morning, San Diego Police Department said.

Around 4:30 a.m., on Glancy Drive near Camino De La Plaza, the resident said he he saw a man trying to steal things from a toolshed where he stores weapons. The homeowner was armed and shot at the prowler, according to SDPD.

A neighbor called police to report gunshots. Minutes later, they also received a call from the homeowner, confirming he had shot at a would-be robber, police said.

Authorities don’t believe the burglar was wounded in the shooting before he ran away. The homeowner was also uninjured, police said. No one was arrested.

Police did not have a detailed description of the burglar and were searching for him in the area.

Thurston County Sheriff’s deputies say a man who forced his way into a home near Tumwater Friday afternoon and was shot by the homeowner is expected to survive.

The shooting happened about 12:30 p.m. Friday on Tennis Court Southwest off Fairview Road Southwest at the south end of Black Lake.

The homeowner discovered the man taking food out of a refrigerator on the home’s back porch, said Lt. Tim Rudloff. The homeowner told the man to leave but he refused and forced his way into the house.

That is when the homeowner took out a gun and shot him once in the chest. The man was taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia.

Rudloff said the homeowner will not face criminal charges since he was defending himself, but that the man who was shot could face a burglary charge.

Fort Worth police investigate at the scene of a shooting Wednesday on Clovermeadow Drive. By Emerson Clarridge

Believing that her boyfriend was retrieving knives to cut her, a woman shot him Wednesday inside their south Fort Worth house, police said.

The woman shot the man five times, in his torso and his arm, Fort Worth police said. The man was in critical condition in the minutes after he was shot and was in surgery at John Peter Smith Hospital. Police did not release his name or age.

The woman was being interviewed by family violence unit detectives.

The violence erupted about 11 a.m. in the house near Clovermeadow and Shadymeadow Drives, police said.

The man made a threat to harm his girlfriend during a dispute, police said.

When the woman, whose name and age police also did not release, believed that her boyfriend went downstairs to get knives, she went upstairs and “grabbed the gun that they keep in the house,” police said.
