Texas house owner shoots, kills three males and injures 2 throughout house invasion, officers say
    Denis Bedoya
Three men were killed and two others were injured after dozens of shots were fired by a homeowner in Texas during a home invasion early Sunday, officials said.

The incident happened around 1 a.m. in east Houston after five men wearing ski masks broke into the home, police told KPRC.

The male resident inside then grabbed his weapon and opened fire at the men.

Houston Police said the homeowner appeared to have been defending himself.

“The homeowner appears to have defended himself,” Houston Police Department homicide detective Travis Miller told KTRK-TV.

A shootout then took place between the groups, according to police.

“We have multiple, multiple shell casings from several different types of guns,” Miller said.

The suspects forced themselves into the home, triggering a shootout, police told local media.

A neighbor told KTRK he heard the shots and went outside to make sure he wasn’t dreaming.

“I heard around five or six gunshots,” he told the television station. “I’m pretty sure there were more before that.”

One of the suspects was found dead in front of the house, while the others fled in an SUV and on foot. Police told KPRC that the SUV crashed into a pole nearby and a second suspect was found dead inside.

Three men were killed and two were injured after a homeowner opened fire during a home invasion in Houston on Sunday.

A third suspect who was in the SUV fled, collapsed in the street, and later died, KPRC reported.

The fourth and fifth suspects, who were also injured in the shooting, were taken to the hospital. The incident remains under investigation by police, who did not release additional information. The homeowner was not injured.

Woman shoots, kills intruder trying to break into apartment, police say

ATLANTA - A woman says her daughter had no other choice but to fight back and defend herself when men with guns stormed her apartment.

Atlanta police told Channel 2 Action News armed men entered the apartment off Harwell Road in Atlanta Monday night and tried to rob everyone inside.

"She was in her home and somebody tried to break in, I don’t know why, but they tried to break in," Brenda Parks said.
Police said a woman called 911 for a shooting just before 11 p.m., saying there was an attempted robbery.

The woman shot shot and killed one of the intruders while the second ran away, police said.

“The shooter did stay on scene and is so far cooperating with police, so at this point, we’ll get everyone’s stories and get interviews,” Atlanta Police Lt. Andrea Webster said Tuesday.
Channel 2's Steve Gehlbach was at the scene early Tuesday as investigators took two guns from the crime scene.

Channel 2's Audrey Washington spoke with one neighbor who said there is always commotion and gave her cellphone video from just a few months ago. She says it shows one of the people from that apartment screaming and arguing outside.

Washington also learned this is not the first deadly shooting at the apartments.

Someone found a man shot to death in the parking lot in June. In 2014, Channel 2 Action News covered a shootout that left one man dead.

Parks says she’s just thankful her daughter walked away from Monday’s attempted robbery alive.

"All I know is that my daughter is OK. She’s alright," she said.

Police said no charges are anticipated at this time and that the investigation continues.

Gables Home Intruder Appears Before Judge As Police Continue Search For Second Subject
    Follow CBSMIAMI.COM: Facebook | Twitter

CORAL GABLES (CBSMiami) – A South Florida man faced a judge after police say he broke into a home and took police on a ten hour manhunt.

Police say the suspect and another man kicked in the front door of a Coral Gables home when they were confronted by the homeowner.

Both of them took off but police would only catch one of them.

The homeowners didn’t want to speak on camera because they’re obviously still shaken up, but they are happy to see at least one arrest has already been made.

Nicolas Desrosier appeared before a judge in bond court Monday, charged with occupied burglary and resisting arrest.

This comes two days after police say he tried breaking into a coral gables homes on the 4900 block of Orduna drive.

CBS4 spoke to the homeowner and victim, and she said that her husband was ready with his rifle when Desrosier kicked in the front door.

Seeing that Derosier was unarmed, the homeowner fired warning shots into the air.

Desrosier fled on foot through this high priced neighborhood, where he was caught by police some ten hours later. But he wasn’t alone.

Police say he showed up with at least one other person in a Nissan Altima, which was caught on surveillance camera.

CBS4 has been told the homeowner shot at the trunk at least five times. Police say they have a leads as to who was driving that car.

As for Desrosier, who was already on house arrest before this incident, he’s being held without bond until his next court hearing.

Police say there have a number of other burglaries in Coral Gables and the surrounding areas, and police believe there may be a link with the suspects in this case.

Homeowner shoots in air, scares off burglar at his Central West End home
“I went in there with a gun trained on him and I said put your hands up and get out, and he did.”

ST. LOUIS — A Central West End homeowner is so fed up with crime at his home he took on a guy trying to break into his home.

And it was caught on his home surveillance video.

"This guys is a pro. He brought tools. He has been coming back," Brian Elsesser said.

In the four years, Elsesser has lived in his home in the Central West End he said his place has been broken into constantly.

'We've been burglarized so many times in the last few years. It's a very similar set of circumstances," he said.

Last Tuesday, it happened again. Elsesser said he and his wife were inside their home on McPherson Avenue when his dog started barking something in his backyard. So he went out to his garage to check out the unusual noise.

"The dogs went crazy and we heard a little chime," he said. "I get to right about here [garage door] and I see the door open and then shut."

His home surveillance video showed a thief in his garage. The camera then showed the man looking around for several items.

Homeowner Shoots, Kills Intrusion Suspect on New Year’s Day
    2 Jan 2019
    AWR Hawkins
The Ionia County Sheriff’s Office (ISCO) reports that the suspect broke into the home around 10:30 p.m., claiming someone was pursuing him.

    ICSO notes:

The homeowner of the residence, once arming himself with a firearm went outside with the man but could not locate anyone or any evidence that anyone else was outside or had been chasing the intruder when he came into their home uninvited. When the parties re-entered the home a short time later, the man reportedly began acting very erratically and became very angry with the homeowner, and then assaulted the homeowner.

WOOD 8 reports that the homeowner then responded by shooting the suspect dead.

The suspect was “identified as 40-year-old Justin Eddy of Lansing.” The ICSO found “no connection” between Eddy and the homeowner, but they do believe alcohol and drugs may be “factors in the case.”
