Man linked to killing of Autumn Pasquale shot, arrested for NJ home invasion

    http://6abc.com/news/man-linked-to-g...asion/2033254/

SICKLERVILLE, N.J. (WPVI) -- A man who pleaded guilty in connection with the murder of a 12-year-old South Jersey girl five years ago has been charged in connection with a recent home invasion during which, sources say, he was shot and wounded.

Sources say 21-year-old Dante Robinson is in police custody at Cooper University University Hospital, charged with burglary, aggravated assault, endangering a child and other offenses.

The Camden County Prosecutor's Office says Robinson broke into a home on Kay Lane in Sicklerville Monday night.

The victims told Action News four or five armed men with masks beat and terrorized them.

The homeowner said he shot one of the assailants in self-defense.

Sources say Robinson was the suspect hit with gunfire.

This is the same Dante Robinson who was charged in connection with the 2012 murder of 12-year-old Autumn Pasquale in Clayton, New Jersey.

Dante was charged along with his teenage brother, Justin Robinson.

Justin is currently serving a 17-year sentence after pleading guilty to the killing.

In 2013 Dante was released from a juvenile facility after pleading guilty to an obstruction of justice charge.

The Camden County Prosecutor's Office handled the case, which occurred in Gloucester County.

On Wednesday night, as the family gathered at the Autumn Pasquale Memorial Park in Clayton, Autumn's father told Action News the court should never have let Dante Robinson out.

"I knew it was going to happen, it was just a matter of time," said Tony Pasquale.

"If he was off the street to begin with, that family wouldn't be in this position right now," said Autumn's aunt, Mary Pasquale.

Tony Pasquale says he intends to be in the courtroom when Dante Robinson faces charges for Monday's home invasion.

"I would tell the judge, 'Don't let this happen again. You have him, he's in custody again. Keep him there,'" Pasquale said. "'You know what he did in the past. What makes you think he'll stop doing this?'"

The Camden County Prosecutors Office won't release further details in the home invasion case, including if the other assailants are still out there.

Once he is cleared by doctors at Cooper, sources say, Robinson will head to jail.

How does one plead guilty to murder 5 years ago, end up out of jail?

Oklahoma man shoots, kills neighbor who was trying to drown twin babies

    http://kfor.com/2017/06/03/oklahoma-...n-twin-babies/

ADA, Okla. - An Ada man was shot and killed by a neighbor Friday after he tried drowning twin babies.

“It’s awful because I’ve held the babies and, like, I’ve played with them and I just gave them clothes yesterday," said neighbor Summer Pierce.

Officials say Leland Foster was allegedly threatening the mother of the children with a knife during the ordeal.

A 12-year-old girl who was in the home ran to a neighbor's house for help.

The neighbor, Cash Freeman, rushed back over to the home to find Foster trying to drown the 3-month-old twins, a boy and a girl, in the bathtub.

He then shot Foster twice in the back with a gun.

We spoke to Freeman off camera and he told us when he saw what was happening in the bathroom, he did what he had to do to save the babies. However, he told us he was concerned that he could be in trouble.

Pierce doesn't believe he should be.

“I think he did the right thing because who knows what would happen, because who knows what would have happened to the babies if he hadn’t intervened. They might not have made it.”

The spokesperson for Ada police told NewsChannel 4 that Freeman was questioned and released, but will have to go before the district attorney to see if it was a justified homicide.

The babies were flown to an Oklahoma City hospital but have been released.

Their grandfather told KXII, he was just happy the twins were safe and okay.

This isn't Foster's first brush with the law. In 2011, he was charged with domestic abuse by strangulation and arson in the first degree. He pleaded no contest.

Sounds like Foster could have used a bullet or two in the back quite a while ago.

Just noticed that Fireowners Against Crime has been compiling a list of self defense shootings for a long time and is up to over 1500 examples. Very cool. I was planning on eventually going back over the last several years to add to the thread, but since they have such a long and expansive list, I am going to stick to relatively current examples and put the occasional link to their thread here for those interested. Also a good Pa organization to join. For those who don't know, it was created by current and former members of pafoa.

    Their list here.

Btw Streaker I believed he plead guilty to obstruction so maybe he was trying to hide his brother. He was not guilty of the murder itself.

Ranch owner in Livermore shoots man suspected of trying to run him down

    http://www.eastbaytimes.com/2017/06/...-run-him-down/

LIVERMORE — A ranch owner on remote Mines Road shot a pickup truck driver who allegedly went on a destructive spree Sunday night and tried to run him down with the vehicle, authorities said Monday.

The suspect, identified by the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office as Scott Hagan, 55, of Pleasanton, is expected to recover from gunshot wounds to his upper torso and hand. He is in a San Jose hospital with a sheriff’s hold on him for assault with a deadly weapon and felony vandalism.

The spree left the rancher’s barn, house and pickup truck damaged and caused a gas leak in a propane tank.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Ray Kelly said the shooting “was a clear-cut case of self defense” and that the ranch owner, who is cooperating with investigators, will not be prosecuted.

The bizarre incident was reported around 9:10 p.m. at the remote ranch in the 18000 block of Mines Road, in unincorporated Alameda County far outside Livermore city limits. Kelly said the rancher called 911 and said he had shot someone.

Kelly said the rancher and Hagan had recently met and authorities believe Hagan was possibly going to burglarize the property.

He is accused of driving onto the property and using the truck to smash into a barn, the rancher’s home, a truck and the propane tank.

The resident armed himself with a pistol and told Hagan to stop the truck and get out, Kelly said.

Instead, Hagan began driving toward the rancher, who fired several shots at him.

After being shot, Hagan was able to drive off the property. He was found in his truck stopped on the road. He was airlifted to a San Jose hospital, where he was being uncooperative with investigators, Kelly said.

    Check back for updates.

Fatal weekend shooting in Texas County ruled self-defense

A shooting this weekend in southwest Texas County that left one man dead has been ruled self-defense.

Sheriff James Sigman of the Texas County Sheriff’s Department said Matthew O. McDermott, 42, was found deceased in his driveway on Dunn Road when authorities responded at 10:38 p.m. Saturday. A 38-year-old male was taken into custody for questioning but not charged.

“It appears this shooting was an act of self defense,” Sigman said via a news release.

Authorities initially received a call that a male subject had shot another male and that the victim was unresponsive. The incident was investigated by the sheriff’s department and the Division of Drug and Crime Control of the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

I don't like that they referred to the guy who got shot as a " shooting victim" but at least it was ruled self-defense.
    Colorado Springs homicide ruled self-defense

    http://www.koaa.com/story/35604410/c...d-self-defense
The El Paso County District Attorney's office has ruled that a shooting at a Colorado Springs home in March was justified due to self-defense.

Prosecutors said 36-year-old shooting victim Joseph Lamoureux assaulted and strangled his ex-wife to the point that she passed out on March 17, 2017 at a home on Lexington Village Lane.

The woman's son heard the woman's screams and shot Lamoureux with a shotgun. The son said he heard Lamoureux shout multiple times that he was going to kill her, and when he stepped inside the room Lamoureux was choking and hitting his mother.

The son also said Lamoureux also took a step toward his former stepson before he shot him once in the abdomen. He was taken to the hospital and later died from his injuries. Toxicology reports show that Lamoureux tested positive for Methamphetamine.

Police Say Deadly Davie Restaurant Shooting Was Act Of Self-Defense
    http://miami.cbslocal.com/2017/06/04...e_preview=true

DAVIE (CBSMiami) – Police say the deadly shooting at a Davie fast food restaurant on Friday was an act of self-defense.

According to authorities, 49-year-old Eric Primus and a co-worker entered the Pollo Tropical restaurant located at the Tower Shops on University Drive in Davie during their lunch break.

While inside the restaurant, Primus engaged in a verbal altercation with another patron, 33-year-old Cardiff Lindo.

Primus and his co-worker then exited the building and sat in their work truck, in the Pollo Tropical parking lot, per authorities. Lindo remained in the restaurant for a short period of time before walking outside and towards his vehicle.

That’s when authorities say Primus confronted Lindo, and a physical altercation ensued during which Lindo produced a firearm and discharged several rounds.

Primus was struck by one round and returned to his vehicle where he and the co-worker fled the scene. Lindo remained at the Pollo Tropical and called 911. When police arrived, Lindo surrendered and was detained for questioning.

Primus and his co-worker stopped at a Chevron Station located just north of the Pollo Tropical, also inside Tower Shops, where they sought assistance, according to police.

Primus was transported to Broward Health where he was pronounced dead.

Primus and Lindo did not know each other prior to their altercation. Lindo cooperated with investigators and they said his explanation of events was corroborated by witnesses.

An investigation is ongoing but investigators do believe Lindo acted in self-defense under Florida’s Stand Your Ground statute.

New Mexico man who fatally shot customer acquitted of murder
    http://www.artesianews.com/1464599/n...of-murder.html

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) — A former New Mexico car wash owner who said he shot and killed a customer in self-defense has been acquitted by a 12-person jury.

Leo Molina, 59, was found not guilty on Monday after a five-day trial, the Las Cruces Sun-News reported (http://bit.ly/2qYQfbJ ). He was charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of 39-year-old Gregory Fernandez.

Molina shot Fernandez three times in the chest with a .40-caliber semiautomatic handgun during a fight at the car wash, where Fernandez had rinsed away dog feces from the bed of his pickup. Molina had banned Fernandez from the car wash several days before the shooting.

Molina testified Friday and maintained that he shot Fernandez in self-defense as Fernandez attempted to gouge his eyes during their confrontation. Prosecutors argued Molina had deliberately killed Fernandez after becoming enraged about the feces.

After the verdict was delivered, District Attorney Mark D’Antonio described the outcome as “justice.”

“The state put on a very good case, defense put on their case and the jury acquitted the defendant — and that’s justice in this case,” he said.

D’Antonio later praised Fernandez’s family, in particular his sister Trine Lane, who sat through the entire trial.

“Twelve jurors going back there and finding him not guilty — that doesn’t mean anything to me because something that doesn’t change and something that Leo Molina can never take away from me is that he did shoot my brother,” Lane said. “That was never a dispute. He did kill my brother. So that’s something he’ll never ever take from me. I forgive him for it.”
