By Sheena Elzie Published: January 31, 2018, 6:22 pm Updated: February 1, 2018, 1:14 pm
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) – A Fayetteville property manager said a robber was shot dead Tuesday night by the vicitm’s husband.

Donna Quiles is the property manager of apartments on Netherland Drive. Quiles said a man man started knocking on doors, threatened a woman he saw outside and held her at gunpoint.

“Her husband happened to be upstairs when he heard the commotion downstairs because she was saying ‘please don’t shoot me,’” said Quiles.

She said the victim’s husband, a soldier, shot and killed the suspect. Police confirmed Quiles’ account on Thursday afternoon.

“Military people around here they’re gonna have guns, you can’t just go knock on a door and expect not to be met with a gun,” said Quiles.

The couple was too upset to answer the door when CBS North Carolina stopped by their apartment.

“They are very upset,” said Quiles.

But the property manager says the couple told her how it all happened.

She said they even caught it on security camera, but police won’t release it.

“Our homicide detectives are investigating this case,” said Fayetteville Police Officer Asia Cannon.

The man shot and killed has been identified as Jerome A. Allen, 51, of the 8700 block of Tin Lizza Drive. Police said the gun he was carrying was a pellet gun and not a real handgun.

No charges have been filed at this time.

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - A suspect shot by a homeowner during an attempted robbery has been indicted.

David Rodriguez, 17, was indicted for Aggravated Assault during a grand jury session Thursday in connection to an incident that happened in July of 2017.

Court documents state an Abilene homeowner was playing video games when his power went out, so he grabbed a gun and went outside to investigate.

Once outside, the homeowner saw a suspect, later identified as Rodriguez, carrying a baseball bat and wearing a bandana over his face, according to the documents, which state the homeowner fired his gun when Rodriguez began approaching the house in a threatening manner, striking him in the abdomen.

Police were able to determine the breakers were cut intentionally so the home would lose power. The documents state "Rodriguez did not deny that he and several friends had planned to rob [the victim], but when he got shot, his friends fled the scene."

Man shoots, kills intruder who charged toward him, police say

A man shot and killed someone who broke into his car and charged toward him outside the Gwinnett County home where he lives, police said.

The resident was upstairs when he heard a noise just before 1 a.m. Friday on Mayfield Farms Drive in unincorporated Lawrenceville, Gwinnett police Cpl. Wilbert Rundles said.

The resident found the intruder in one of his cars and confronted the man, police said.

“He verbally challenged the intruder,” Rundles said. “The intruder charged at the resident and the resident fired more than one shot, striking the intruder.”

He died on the scene. The unidentified intruder’s body was found near the garage.

It’s unclear if the intruder had a gun and why he targeted the home. There is no link between the intruder and the resident.

He was taken in for questioning and was cooperating with the investigation, police said.

“At this time, it doesn’t appear that there’s going to be any charges against the (resident),” Rundles said.

A search warrant was secured, which is standard police protocol, authorities said.

Other people were in the home at the time of the shooting, but no one else was injured, police said.

The DeKalb County Medical Examiner was called to the scene.

Arham Younus, a friend of the resident, told Channel 2 Action News he saw the news on Twitter and rushed over to the house once he recognized it.

Bowie County Sheriff's Office: Private citizen shot man trying to break into home

    Thursday, February 1st 2018, 1:49 pm EST
BOWIE COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - Authorities in Bowie County are investigating an incident in which a private citizen shot a man who was allegedly trying to break into the person’s home Wednesday night.

According to a press release from the Bowie County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect was taken to St. Michael’s Hospital for treatment, and he was in stable condition as of Thursday morning.

Bowie County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched out to a disturbance call in the 100 block of Bateson Lane on Wednesday at about 9:35 p.m. The 911 caller told the dispatcher that an intoxicated man wearing blue jeans, no shirt, and a teal hat was causing a disturbance at that location.

While the BCSO deputies were still on their way to the scene, the dispatcher told them that a burglary was in progress in the 400 block of Fricks Lane, which is adjacent to the location of the original disturbance call, the press release stated.

“This caller said that a white male was attempting to break into her home through the back door and her husband, Joseph Combs, had shot the intruder,” the press release stated. “Deputy Michelle Carrier and Texas Department Public Safety Trooper Chad Turner arrived a short time later.”

The law enforcement officers who arrived at the scene first found a man matching the description of the Bateson Lane disturbance suspect lying in the backyard of the home on Fricks Lane. The man, who was later identified as Michael Wade McBride, 26, of Texarkana, had a visible gunshot wound, the press release stated.

McBride was alert when the law enforcement officers found him, and a Life Net ambulance took him to St. Michael’s Hospital for treatment.

“No charges have been filed at this time, and the investigation into the incident is ongoing,” the press release stated.

Springfield homeowner fired 7 shots, striking suspect 3 times, court records show
Jack FlynnUpdated 7:29 AM; Posted 7:29 AM
SPRINGFIELD - Emilio Garcia-Cappas probably wasn't thrilled to see the man who had just shot him three times.

But as his stretcher was being wheeled along a corridor at Baystate Medical Center, the shooter and his girlfriend were excited to see him, according to the arrest report.

"That's him!" they both told police. The woman added she "would never forget that face," the report said.

Two hours earlier, Garcia-Cappas, 21, of Holyoke, and Akeem Anderson, 21, of Springfield, allegedly showed up at the couple's home on Edgewood Street in Springfield.

Standing on the porch, they demanded to see someone named Eric. Twice, the couple told them that nobody with that name lived there. The second time, the homeowner told the visitors to get off his property, the report said.

Garcia-Cappas turned away, then pulled a large firearm from his coat. The homeowner drew his own gun and fired seven shots, striking Garcia-Cappas three times. As he stumbled back toward his vehicle, Garcia-Cappas dropped a loaded handgun on the lawn, the report said.

The new case comes 12 months after Garcia-Cappas was charged with possession of heroin with intent to distribute after police raided an apartment in North Adams.

The gun - a Springfield Armory model XD 9-mm with 15 rounds in the magazine - had been reported stolen in Atlanta in 2015, the report said.

Once Garcia-Cappas was shot, Anderson allegedly ran off, heading toward Sycamore Street.

Minutes after the shooting, Garcia-Cappas showed up at Mercy Medical Center for treatment of gunshot wounds. He was transferred to Baystate Medical Center, where he was treated and arrested after being identified by the couple.

In statements to police, the couple said both visitors were strangers. A third man was apparently waiting in a vehicle parked at the curb, and drove Garcia-Cappas to the hospital, they said.

Garcia Cappas was arrested at the Baystate Medical Center where he was being treated for a gunshot injury.

Police have not identified the couple. Garcia-Cappas' wounds are not considered life-threatening, police said.

The male homeowner is a licensed gun owner, and used a Smith & Wesson 9-mm handgun to shoot Garcia-Cappas. When the visitors continued to ask for "Eric" and became more aggressive, he went upstairs to get his gun, the report said.

The investigation into the shooting is continuing, said Ryan Walsh, Springfield police spokesman.

On Thursday, Garcia-Cappas pleaded not guilty in Springfield District Court to five charges, including carrying a loaded firearm without a license and possession of a large-capacity firearm in commission of a felony.

At a prosecutor's request, he was ordered held without right to bail for a detention hearing Tuesday.

Anderson was arrested late Thursday and arraigned Friday. He is also being held for a detention hearing on Tuesday.

ACWORTH, GA — Surveillance photos of two armed men who robbed an Acworth Waffle House have been released by the Cherokee Sheriff's Office in hopes that the public can identify the suspects. Florida Sheriff: Number of Gun Owning Residents is Something for Robbers to 'Keep in Mind'
A Florida Sheriff has warned would-be robbers in Vero Beach that there is a decent chance that they will be breaking into somebody’s home who happens to have a gun, after one burglar suspect was shot in the head and thigh by a law-abiding citizen. Indian River County Florida Sheriff Deryl Loar said that he hoped the incident would serve as a warning to future criminals.

Indian River County Florida Sheriff Deryl Loar announced Friday afternoon that a 25-year old man who shot an intruder in his home will not be charged, reports ABC 25 West Palm Beach Florida. Sheriff Loar noted the high number of Indian River County residents who legally own firearms in his county and warned potential criminals to remember that statistic the next time they want to rob a house. “Just shy of ten percent are lawfully possessing firearms,” Sheriff Loar told the media. “That’s something (robbers should) keep in mind.”

As for the incident itself, authorities say that 25-year old Taylor Reese heard a man breaking down his door on Thursday night. Reese then grabbed his gun and was suddenly face to face with two men robbing his home. One of those men fired several shots at Reese, but missed. Reese then returned fire and hit one of the suspects twice, once in the head and once in the thigh.

After investigating, police determined that Reese was well within his rights of self-defense to shoot at the suspects. One of the suspects is actually a juvenile who ran from the scene Thursday night, but turned himself in on Friday. The man who was shot is still recovering in the hospital, but injuries do not appear fatal.

Man carrying concealed pistol stops attack on Utah police officer

Good Samaritan helps assaulted police officer
Man used concealed carry pistol to scare off attacker.

A Utah police officer who was being attacked on Friday was saved by a passerby with a concealed pistol after the man drove by while the assault was taking place and turned around to help, officials said.

The unidentified police officer confronted the attacker, identified as Paul Douglas Anderson, after spotting feet dangling from a donation bin in Springville, FOX13 Salt Lake City reported on Saturday. Anderson got out of the bin, but refused to remove his hands from his pocket.

The officer ordered Anderson to remove his hands out of his pockets. Anderson eventually took his hands out of his pants’ pockets and began repeatedly punching the officer in the face.

    http://www.foxnews.com/us/2018/02/04...e-officer.html

Derek Meyer told FOX13 he was driving by the area when he spotted the police lights and saw Anderson attacking the cop. Meyer turned around, pulled over and pulled out his pistol.

“I carry a gun to protect me and those around me, but primarily I carry a gun to protect my family first and foremost," Meyer, who has a concealed-carry permit, told FOX13. "Outside of that, if I were to use my gun to protect anyone it would be law enforcement or military personnel."

Meyer aimed the pistol at Anderson and yelled at him to stop attacking the officer. Anderson bolted from the scene as responding officers arrived. The attacker, who was found hiding under a flatbed trailer, was arrested and faces several charges, according to FOX13.

The officer suffered a fractured eye socket and lacerations around his eye.

Cpl. Cory Waters of Springville Police told FOX13 Meyer’s quick action helped save the officer’s life.

“Had he not been in the right place at the right time, who knows what would have happened,” Waters said. “But he definitely stopped the attack from continuing and becoming much worse. He might have even saved either one of their lives. It could have gone really bad, even for the suspect.”

Meyer said he stepped in because it was in his nature. He added

“[I didn’t do it] to get any extra attention or to have people talk about me or anything I did,” he told the news station.

Meyer added that he’s sharing his story because there aren’t enough “good stories from responsible, gun-owning people.”

The officer was released from the hospital and is expected to be ok
