Licensed handgun owner shoots man breaking into his car
SAN ANTONIO - Police say a licensed handgun owner shot a man seen breaking into his car and making threats.
The shooting happened just before 11:00 on Tuesday morning at an apartment complex on Hackley on the west side.
Police say the man left his car unlocked while he went back into his apartment to get something he had forgotten. When he returned to his car, he found two men in the vehicle.
They got into an argument and the car’s owner pulled out a gun from his jacket, according to the police report. The man has a license to carry. The man told police one of the men breaking into his car began to walk away but started making threats, saying he knew where the other man lived and the car he drove.
The car’s owner then fired twice at the man making threats, hitting him in the calf. The two suspects took off on foot, but were caught by officers a short distance away.
The man who was shot was taken to the hospital and the other suspect was detained by police. No word on what charges they may face.

Burglar runs off
YOUNGSTOWN
A 56-year-old woman inside a West Side home Monday scared off a burglar by pulling a gun on him hidden under her pillow.
Officers were called about 9:35 a.m. to the 1600 block of Mayfield Avenue, where the woman’s 75-year-old husband was in a recliner downstairs when a man wearing a mask appeared in his living room with a handgun.
The intruder went upstairs after he heard a cough, reports said, and pointed the gun at the woman’s face while she was still in bed. She then got her gun and the burglar ran away. He fired a shot at the woman but missed. Police did find a 9 mm shell casing inside the home. Reports said the woman told police she thinks the intruder came through a dog door in the home.

Man shot suspect after he broke into his truck, police say
A homeowner shot a man in the foot after he allegedly caught him breaking into his truck at his Auburn residence, authorities said in a news release.
Corey Heard, 36, faces one count of breaking an entering a motor vehicle. He was treated at East Alabama Medical Center before being booked into the Lee County Jail under bonds totaling $103,000.
Auburn police were called to the 200 block of Lee Road 17 around 2:30 a.m. Sunday to investigate an auto burglary.
The homeowner approached a stranger he saw entering his 2014 Ford Pickup. The suspect allegedly approached the victim in a threatening manner and the homeowner told him to stop several times.
Authorities said the victim fired warning shots and the suspect continued to approach him.
"The victim ordered the suspect to stop several times, fired warning shots and the suspect continued to come towards him," Capt. Lorenza Dorsey said. "The victim eventually fired in the direction of the suspect striking him in the foot after which the suspect retreated."
In separate unrelated incident, Heard was accused of raping a 13-year-old girl who was kidnapped by a group of men after running away from a youth development center in October.

Brothers of Chattanooga murder victim speak out against dismissed charges
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. —
Two men make strong claims against the Hamilton County District Attorney's office after the man who killed their brother walks free. Just a day before the trial was set to start, the Hamilton County District Attorney's Office dropped the murder charges from 2015.
Tuesday, the attorney for the defense Cordarius Robinson told us the evidence his client acted in self defense when he shot and killed Timothy Harris was overwhelming. He says that's why the DA's office dropped the charges.
"Of course it's a let down and everything," said Ezra Harris, Timothy Harris' older brother. "We thought justice would be served."
Court records say Robinson was the boyfriend of Harris' step-daughter.
"I hate that the state went to trial on this with such incompetent district attorneys," said Nathaniel Harris, Timothy Harris' younger brother.
Cordarius Robinson's attorney says Timothy Harris had a decades long history of violent behavior against his wife, which would have been used to argue that Harris was the first aggressor the night of his death.
"My brother is dead and he can't defend himself," said Nathaniel Harris. "The district attorney as well as the other lawyers, they basically had a dead man on trial."
Robinson's attorney, Hank Hill, says the evidence of self defense was strong, which is why he believes the DA's office dropped the case. He says before the Olive Street killing, Harris rammed the car his step-daughter and Robinson were in. When they got out, the attorney says Harris tried to run them over and punched them. That's when the attorney says Robinson pulled the gun out of his car and shot Harris.
But the Harris family says they don't believe that account of what happened.
"There's more to it then what they let our eyes see," said Nathaniel Harris. "And that's the honest to God truth."
Nathaniel Harris says the whole family is suffering, but he feels the worst for Timothy's two biological children.
"It's not a win-win or a win-lose situation," said Nathaniel Harris. "Everybody lost. But the ones who lost the most are his two children. They're the ones that lost."
NewsChannel 9 tried to talk to Cordarius Robinson himself but his attorney says he is out of town.
"I would have thought the DA's office would have vigorously pursued this thing...but we don't think that they even tried," said Ezra Harris. "They looked at the side of Tim and everything that he did."
A spokesperson for the DA's office told us they had no comment about the Harris family's claims that they didn't try.

GA homeowner finds 'Most Wanted' Anderson Co. suspect hiding on property, holds him at gunpoint
ELBERTON, GA (FOX Carolina) -
A man wanted out of the Upstate on grand larceny charges is in custody after a manhunt in another state on Wednesday.
Deputies said 32-year-old Nicholas Blake Phillips led authorities on a multi-jurisdictional car chase in a stolen white Chevrolet truck.
The Franklin County Sheriff's Office, the Franklin Springs Police Department, the Elbert County Sheriff's Office, the Royston Police Department and Georgia State Patrol were involved in the pursuit.
Franklin County deputies said Phillips managed to elude officers briefly before they picked the chase back up and it traveled into Hart County and Elbert County.
Phillips crashed the truck just north of Elberton and fled on foot, according to deputies. Officials tried to track him using K-9s and helicopters, but the search was suspended after several hours.
On Thursday morning, Phillips was taken into custody when a resident of Elbert County found him hiding on his property and held him at gunpoint until deputies arrived, they said.
Phillips, a resident of Starr, was on the Anderson County Sheriff's Office's "Most Wanted" list for two counts of grand larceny in connection with vehicles stolen from the Budget Inn and Plastic Omnium. He was featured on FOX Carolina's "Most Wanted" segment on Tuesday.
In connection with the incident, Franklin County deputies said they also arrested Taylor Brooke Pierce in another stolen vehicle. Pierce also had an outstanding warrant for grand larceny out of Anderson County in connection with the Budget Inn auto theft case, deputies said.
The Anderson County Sheriff's Office said the pair were traveling together through Georgia in separate but suspected-stolen vehicles. They are awaiting extradition back to the Upstate.
