I normally stay away from stories where a citizen is only armed because they took a gun from someone trying to do harm. But I think this shows the importance of having a firearm whether your own or the criminal. This guy picking up the shotgun and using it was the difference between ending a threat and potentially having a lot of victims.

This is why people should have the right to armed....... because you can’t always count on the criminal letting you use his gun to stop him like this criminal did.

    NORMAN, Okla. —
Tod Hanley was sitting at his desk last week at Bergey Windpower in Norman when he said the front-desk clerk peeked into his office and told him to call police.

"When I did hear the gunshot, I said, 'Oh my gosh,'" the clerk, Gail, said.

William Adams went into the Norman business Jan. 10 wearing a gas mask and armed with a shotgun and two pistols and walked back to where his wife and her co-worker, Colette Wind, were sitting. Adams and his wife had an altercation when Wind stepped in.

"I stuck my head out the door, and he threatened me with a shotgun," Hanley said.

Wind was shot in the arm. Hanley said Adams laid his shotgun down, so Hanley grabbed the firearm.

"He grabbed for his pistol," said Hanley, who reacted and shot Adams in the face. "I think I'm mostly OK. I'll be better. It'll just take a little while. We've all been through a big trauma."

Wind is recovering from her injuries. She requested to have her computer so she could work and do payroll from her hospital bed.

Adams was taken to an Oklahoma City hospital to be treated before he was booked into jail.

Visitors to Bergey Windpower now have to knock to get into the building because the doors are locked during business hours for extra security.

Shooting Ruled Self-Defense; Woman Cleared of Murder Charge
Monica Hampton turned herself in for questioning and initially faced a murder charge. She no longer faces that charge.

INDIANAPOLIS--The fatal shooting of a man on the north side of Indianapolis last week has been ruled self-defense.

Police identified 33-year-old Monica Hampton as a person of interest in the death of 37-year-old Jermaine Taylor.

Hampton turned herself in for questioning and was subsequently arrested on a preliminary murder charge. On Wednesday, after reviewing the case, the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office filed a notice of intent not to prosecute Hampton in Marion County Criminal Court.

Police say a witness reported seeing Hampton and Taylor fighting.

At one point during the fight, the witness told police Taylor pinned Hampton against a fence. A short time later the witness heard gunshots.

An autopsy found Taylor suffered gunshot wounds to the pelvis and left thigh.

Taylor was shot and killed January 10th around 8 am in the 2900 block of North Delaware Street. It was near the intersection of 30th and Delaware streets.

Police: CPL holder shoots man who stole iPhone

A 19-year-old man is hospitalized and under arrest after being shot in his right thigh early Thursday morning in the course of allegedly stealing an iPhone during a planned buy on Detroit's west side.

The suspect and the alleged victim, who police said is a 23-year-old man, arranged to meet at the apartment of the 23-year-old, on the 1600 block of Calvert, so that the victim could sell the suspect his iPhone, said Officer Holly Lowe, a Detroit Police Department spokeswoman. The area is north of Chicago Boulevard and west of the John C. Lodge Freeway.

The men arranged the transaction online.

In the course of the transaction, the suspect pulled out a handgun, police said.

But the 23-year-old — who has a license to carry a concealed handgun — pulled out his own gun and shot the suspect in his right thigh.

The suspect was spotted leaving the area in a silver Toyota with three other men, who transported him to Henry Ford Hospital, where he remains in police custody. No update on his condition is immediately available.

    Police are investigating.

MAN SENTENCED TO OVER A YEAR IN PRISON FOR WALMART THREAT

ST. CLOUD -- A man who tried to attack a couple outside the St. Cloud Walmart has been sentenced to 1 1/2 in prison.

Thirty-one-year-old Philip Keys pleaded guilty in November to second degree assault with a dangerous weapon for the attack in October 2015.
According to the criminal complaint, a couple was walking to their car just before midnight when Keys approached them dragging a baseball bat. He asked the couple if they've "ever been hit in the head with a bat?"

The couple continued walking, when the husband heard the man take a deep breath and turned around to find Keys raising the bat as if to hit them. The man, who had a permit to carry, pulled out his gun and ordered Keys to drop the bat.

Records show Keys dropped the bat, told the man to shoot him, then fled the scene.

Keys will be credited with 381 days already served.
