Re: Philadelphia Zoo, searches or detectors?
Rules are written in the stone,
Break the rules and you get no bones,
all you get is ridicule, laughter,
and a trip to the house of pain.

Re: Philadelphia Zoo, searches or detectors?
never been to philli zoo but have been to pittsburg zoo. i did cc there no issues . but i changed my cazrry ammo from hollow point to the stoutest load i owned for there . we carry for the self defense "what if" moment so my reasoning was what if a large animal gets loose and has 1 of my children i wanted deep penetration. so a went from 125 hollowpoints to 200 hard cast corbon hammer heads . "what if "

Re: Philadelphia Zoo, searches or detectors?
Honestly the chances of any of us ever needing a gun for self defense is probably pretty small. But it is there and criminals, psychotics etc won't let a gun free zone stop them from doing harm. Schools were considered a safe place until they weren't, army bases were considered a safe place until they weren't, government buildings were safe until they weren't. Bad things happen in the best neighborhoods all the time. The Philadelphia zoo is probably a safe place, but I don't want to be there unarmed if the universe decides to align the cosmos to make the day I am there the day that it becomes a non safe place.
I doubt many of us are carrying because we normally spend lots time in shady places, but carry for when shady people decide that today is the day to bring their world to us.
I will be perfectly happy and much prefer going to the grave never having to defend myself. I try not to put myself in bad situations that can lead to trouble. But if a criminal tries to harm me or my family I want the chance to do more than be shot in the back. If I ever have to defend myself it will be because I thought my life or the lives of others was in serious jeopardy. That's why I carry, to be ready for the unexpected where ever I am at. The zoo is traditionally a safe place, like so many other places....... until it's not.
I am truly sorry to hear about your dad, I lost my father to cancer when I was 17. All I can say is be there for him, be strong for him, and cherish your time together while hoping for the best.
