Will we get the army pistols?
Do you think we will have a shot at getting the Beretta pistols when the army has completed it's switch to the new sidearm?
What condition would you expect the majority to be in? Do you think they will be inexpensive or carry a premium because they are GI guns? Would you buy one or more?
I think many will be beat to hell and expect several grades. I do think the best of the best will carry a higher price tag than the same gun on the civilian market. I think "shooter" grades will be a good value and beaters will be relatively cheep. Depending on price I would try to buy a shooter and something a bit more collectible.
I think we have a good chance with Trump as president. Does anyone know who makes the final decision on the disposition of surplus guns? Some people just plain suck.
If you're gonna be dumb ya gotta be tough.

Re: Will we get the army pistols?
Total junk. Not worth the effort to melt them down.

Re: Will we get the army pistols?
I've heard them described as clapped out dog shit from people who have used them fairly recently. The CMP has gotten pretty good at fixing guns up but there is only so much they can do.

If they are released and are cheap I will buy as many as I can afford because the M9 is cheap and easy to repair.

Re: Will we get the army pistols?
Due to the fact that they've passed through dozens of hands since 1985 and are only barely maintained. Service members who got issued NEW M9s and M9A1s had nothing but good to say about them. Like anything, the quality is influenced by how well the owner treats it. In this case, the owner (the government) didn't care about it much and neglected it.

Re: Will we get the army pistols?
Just shot my well maintained 92FS this morning. The more I shoot it, the more I love it. Wish I still had my police trade in. It was beat up and clearly had a mismatched slide and receiver. But it was accurate and never had any issues.

Re: Will we get the army pistols?
I do have to say I am fond of my berettas. The m9 is nastalgic for me and the m9a3 is just a really nice pistol. I'm surprised they didn't pick the m9a3 or the g17. I guess cost got the best of beretta this time around.

Re: Will we get the army pistols?
Did they ever even release the 1911 to civilian sales?
