Default Ron Mahovsky's gun coatings. Anybody use him? *Update, I used him**

I'm thinking about sending in that Beretta 92 frame for a hard chrome coating. Since he is from our state I was wondering if anyone has first-hand experience with his work. I'm also debating if I want the complete lower or frame only coated. The difference in price is insignificant but Im having a tough time making my decision. Any input, as always, is very appreciated, B

Good guy, quality work. I had a 1911 many years ago and it held up very well. My oldest now has it.

^^ Hearing that from you is very reassuring. I kind of consider you one of the resident experts here. I did read good reviews before narrowing it down to his services.

In your opinion should I have the stainless controls coated too? Until Ron mentioned the two price points I hadn't considered that. As you know the frame will have a slight contrast to the slide and barrel like it did with the original frame finish. I never wished the controls were the same color as the frame then so I'm kind of leaning to not having them coated. On the other hand, maybe it makes sense to prevent future wear and tear of those parts?

Myself, I wouldn't worry about the controls as they are stainless and as such pretty easy to make look good if needed.

IMO, black controls on a silver-metallic pistol look really nice.

I had him do my CZ-82 in the metalife - quality work ! He's a little slow responding to emails, but got my pistol back fairly quick. Does very nice work.

^^Ive actually had pretty efficient communication thus far. I've decided to go ahead with this and have it packed up to FedEx out tomorrow.
I think I've been overthinking the whole frame only verses complete lower thing. I have stainless controls so I decided on complete lower.
Turn around time is currently estimated at 30 days, I'll update when I get it back.

I had a Browning Hi Power metalifed by Mahovsky back in the late 80s.
The work was OK. I sold the gun to a friend a while later.
Tomorrow's battle is won during today's practice.

I wouldn't use him again. His communication skills are horrible and turn around was slow. I had him hard chrome my 1911 5 years ago and I could never reach him, nor did he bother sending me confirmation that my slide shipped back to me. I hear he's aging and I'm sure that's partially to blame.

It's on its way. I'll revisit this thread when it's back.
