Concerning deceased family members guns
Can someone point me in the right direction as far as what we can do with our deceased brothers guns? My father and I would each like to have one, but we are not sure if there is a process we need to go through in order to use the gun and register as a conceal carry weapon. Thoughts?

Re: Concerning deceased family members guns
it is just like any other item he owed if there are other airs it needs to be appraised and you give the estate that amount . if your worried about not registered go to a gun dealer and get it transferred take along short certificate and executor .if it has sentimental value you should not carry it if you defend your self with it you might not ever see it again or when you get it back from the cops it will not look the same .

To do it all legally, someone needs to get himself appointed as the personal representative of the estate, as either Executor or Administrator. Otherwise, it's just people looting the decedent's stuff.

Re: Concerning deceased family members guns
My dad is the executor of the estate and has possession of the guns. I'm assuming he can just give one to me?

Executor as appointed by the Orphan's Court based upon a will directing that he be executor? Even so, I don't think that equates to Penna's father-to-son gifting allowance. I believe it will have to be transferred via FFL.

Re: Concerning deceased family members guns
The estate is closed, my dad was the executor and he and my mom were the beneficiaries of the will. I think it actually closed at the end of 2015.
