Does the metal detector work differently if you walk backwards? What happens if you were to hop on one foot through the detector?

Gotta stay awake, gotta try and shake off this creeping malaise

    Short version,

November 14 stopped in to renew LTCF, no issues checking in firearm. Line at LTCF renewal was 12 deep, no time to sit there for a period of time. So I left without renewing.

Returned to renew on November 22, went to check in firearm. Deputy freaks and has me put hands on head, walk backwards thru metal detector, then frisked before allowing me to check into lock box. I questioned his actions, his response was "I treat everyone the same when coming here with a firearm, black, white, male, female I don't care who it is!" Then he mumbled to the younger deputies "Nobody should be allowed to carry in this courthouse".
Filled out the paperwork for lock box, renewed LTCF. Nothing else was said when I retrieved firearm from lock box.

Returned to courthouse for jury duty on December 1st, no issues. I noticed the one young deputy that was on duty on November 22nd, asked him what the deal was with any new procedures. He said "Some deputies do thing their way", at that point the other young deputy asked who we were talking about, the first deputy said his name, and second deputy rolled his eyes and shook is head. We chit chatted for a couple of minutes about firearm before separating.
Isn't the whole point of the lock box so you aren't carrying in the Courthouse? What a sped.

No, I didn't catch his name. Looked to be late 40's early 50's, salt/pepper hair color, about 6' tall, very loud demanding voice.

Judging by the other young deputy on December 1 eye roll and facial expression, the older deputy might just be a di¢k.
