Default .30-06 150 Grain Load using IMR 4451 and Hornady SST

    Folks,

just wanted to pass on the GREAT results i'm getting with IMR 4451 and a 150 grain Hornady SST over a max (compressed) load of this powder. I shoot sub MOA and on two trigger pulls, accounted for two dead deer, bang flop, and bang run 10 yards, flop. Its greatly impressed me and is my new favorite powder!

    Hornady Brass
    CCI 200 LR primer
57.8 Grains compressed IMR 4451 (max load)
Hornady 150 grain SST, Seated to bullet canneleur to replicate factory ammo.

    1/2 MOA at 100 yards.

Hahaha! I'm going to try the new enduron series of powder in .243 as well. Not sure which yet! Hoping for 4451!

It is not unheard of. I have done so with my Savage 110 in 30-06 with Federal 165 grain boat tail ammo. (3 shot group)
That was on one of my good days, of course!

What rifle are you shooting this with? What's your twist rate? Barrel length? Any crimp?

Also, show us 5 groups of 5 or 10 shots all sub-MOA and I might buy into this. 3-shot groups are generally only good for indications. A one shot group with any caliber under .50 will always be 1/2 MOA

That being said, I've found my Remi's don't particularly like <165gr pills. The Savage on the other hand does...YMMV

Regardless, good shooting OP and congrats on the two deer! Send some jerky my way!
I'm only here for the wood c-rings.
