Default Home owner shot during home invasion

    http://fox5sandiego.com/2016/12/09/f...home-invasion/

A California home owner/father came out to investigate a home invasion in process. The home owner gets shot, he underwent surgery and had to get a kidney removed.. almost lost his life. He should've stayed inside his home, wait for the home invaders to break in, then use deadly force. California's castle doctrine allows that. Well the 2 teens are caught and will probably do a few years cause of their age. In my opinion the teen/home invader should be sentenced to die.

Yes, he was stupid to pursue them outside his home.

OTOH, you're assuming he had 'deadly force' available to use if they'd come in... Not a safe assumption in Cali, I think.

Man's best friend could have been let outside to check out any disturbance.

Chronology and labeling seems off. 20 minutes go by and the perps have not succeeded in getting through the window when the homeowner sees them? If they ran they must have seen him. I guess it is accurate to call an attempted cat burglary a home invasion, but to me a home invasion is a planned and executed encounter with people inside to extract something from them.
