Default Ruger precision rifle sight in

Hey guys. I recently mounted a vortex 6-24 on my ruger precision rifle. After sighting in at about 100 yards the scope is at the higher end of its adjustment. As in. I have one more full rotation (about 5.5 mills) in upward adjustment left in the scope . I'd be lucky to have enough to reach out to 550 yards with it. Seeing as the rifle has a 20 Moa mount built in this does not seem right to me. I'd think it should be at the bottom of its adjustment at 100 yard.... any suggestions or anyone have any experience with this? I contacted vortex and said it's probably a problem with the rifle or the rings aren't tourqued properly.(I torqued them to 18 in/lbs)

That does not sound right to me with a 20MOA mount. What size rings do you have? I'm assuming at least a medium for the scope.

What brand rings are you using?

Just a thought, 100 yards may be too close ? the shot may be just starting its arc above the plane of the sight line only to intersect it further down the line ? Id try it at 200 or 300 for shits and giggles to eliminate this hypothesis

    Ditch the cantilever mount.

I would also recommend using regular rings not cantilever mount. You have a bolt action not a semi auto that needs to position the optic forward. Some of those cantilever mounts may have 5-20moa.

This is why when people post issues, they need to specify what parts are being used. Using correct parts will eliminate issues.

Got it on gun broker for 1200 shipped, but it took quite a while to find one that wasn't over 1600.
