First Year Production Colt 1911
Here's an article on first year production of Colt 1911's - apparently 50 were made in 1911 just prior to the Christmas holidays and the rest of production ramped up in 1912.
These even give Wilson Combat 1911's a bad name...

My pants just got a little tighter....beautiful gun, my grandfather's 1913 example is put to shame (in beauty alone) by the one above! Now, I doubt that one was carried through 2 WWs...
I'm only here for the wood c-rings.

Much purdier the one I own manufactured in 1914, but like ianb's grandpappy's gun mine has some wear and character marks from surviving two world wars. I can't think of any other object I own or could buy that was built over 100 years ago, yet is still as reliable and functional today as it was then other than battle proven firearms.
