Re: Open Carry FOR RIFLES
If you are planning that soon, you better have a hunting license. It is deer season right now. Soon it will be primitive weapons season, so you will need a flintlock. Anything else and you will have to explain how you are not hunting illegally.

Re: Open Carry FOR RIFLES
Its still rifle season until Sat evening.
If you carry a caliber less than .23, ie a .22 or .223, or it is a semi auto you should jave no problems with game commission .
Stay back from steaming holes due to gases and mine subsidence (colapse)
Most interesting area is the stretch of highway between Ashland and Centralia.
When the road goes from 4 lanes to 2 park near that berm of dirt..climb over and walk up old 4 lane. Or in Centralia near graveyard is tge other end of old highway.

Re: Open Carry FOR RIFLES
Hmm .. I thought for big game PAGC requires it be center fire and larger than .23 ???
Ran into that when I purchased a .223 bolt to use and was told small game only
After research.. small game firearm must be less than 23 caliber... Elk firearm must be center fire and larger than 27 caliber
so I can use, not that I would, my 223 bolt for deer and bear.Last edited by Parrisk; December 8th, 2016 at 04:34 PM.

Re: Open Carry FOR RIFLES
Well, at least the, "That's crazy!" crowd isn't around.
But, what's the correct answer to the OP?
Something along the lines of, " rifle OC is legal, but if you do so at the low ready, that could be reasonably misconstrued as disorderly conduct (a chargeable offense). Make sure to have a lawyer on speed dial, because it is not a day-to-day thing and local law enforcement might to cause you problems.
Don't talk to cops, except when you should talk to cops.
Stand up for, and exercise, your rights, except when you shouldn't.
Be strong, unless you shouldn't. Be supple, unless it's time to be hard.
Bla, bla, bla.
Maybe someone with more specific knowledge than I could share more detailed information?
Oh, and don't believe what you read on the internet, unless it's right.

Re: Open Carry FOR RIFLES
This is not a subject I am very familiar with but I believe GL might have been suggesting that you can't have a gun in public in Philly, on the sidewalk or in the car, unless meeting an exception (to and from range, etc.) If I am correct, "going to Centralia" would not be an exception.
You'll have to look into it yourself.
Once there, I doubt the rifle would be a problem, especially if slung. Somebody could always call police I guess but I doubt it. My bigger concern would be if there was any chance of trespassing up there. You see somebody trespassing, you normally tell them to leave. You see somebody trespassing with a gun, you are more likely to call the cops. Now you have cops, a complainant, a potential misdemeanor, a young man, and a gun (which often makes people take the situation more seriously).

Re: Open Carry FOR RIFLES
Yes but all the property inside the boundary of Centralia belongs to the Government. ;-)
The US Government bought the entire town. Then paid to move people. But some refused to leave their homes. They presented a taped interview, with then Governor, who stated "If you don't want to leave nobody will force you to leave"
After that the Government allowed original home owners to stay.. you guessed it.. no mortgage and no property tax, since the Government bought and owned all the property.
But the properties could not be sold or transferred. As resident die off or move, the Government bulldozes the house.
Last I knew there were only 10 resident lefts as of 2010.
Rumor has it there are currently zero residents.Retired US Army
