Where do you use loctite on your 1911
I am getting ready to rebuild a rusty 1911 and just wondering if / where you guys use loctite and what color loctite do you use. I was thinking of using it here
1. Grip screws
2. Ejector
3. maybe on plunger tube before staking it"fom my cold dead hands"

Re: Where do you use loctite on your 1911
The only place you might need it is on any screw-on sights.
No other place on a 1911 have I seen any sort of loctite used.RIP: SFN, 1861, twoeggsup, Lambo, jamesjo, JayBell, 32 Magnum, Pro2A, mrwildroot, dregan, Frenchy, Fragger, ungawa, Mtn Jack, Grapeshot, R.W.J., PennsyPlinker, Statkowski, Deanimator, roland, aubie515

Maybe the grip screw bushings? Don't know where else you'd put locktite on a 1911.

Re: Where do you use loctite on your 1911
The only places I use loctite on a 1911 would be a rear sight if it has a set screw, and I would normally use blue. I also like to put red loctite on the grip screw bushing in addition to staking them in. You really don't need it on the bushngs since the staking does all the holding you need, but for me its just a little insurance. I would not put loctite anywhere else.

Re: Where do you use loctite on your 1911
I was thinking about using loctite on the ejector since it doesn't get pinned on the Springfield GI model, i think it was used in the factory there since i had to heat up the pins to get it out.

Re: Where do you use loctite on your 1911
Usually only grip screws. Use either the tiniest drop of blue (#242) or purple (#222MS). Purple is meant for small fine thread machine screws.
Keep in mind , color is not a reliable indicator. There are many blues , reds , greens and not all manufacturers use the same color coding.

Re: Where do you use loctite on your 1911
1911s don't require Locktite for any builds necessarily. It can be used as a quick fix for loose grip screw bushings, if used on the ejector it will eventually shoot loose again. Staking would be the proper fix.
