Re: Vehicle gun storage
Whenever my 1911 is in the car it is holstered on my right hip. When I get out of the car it's... still holstered on my right hip.

Re: Vehicle gun storage
Usually grab an old Macdonalds bag and slide the holstered gun inside. Then it goes on the floor with the other 8 bags of crap.

Re: Vehicle gun storage
Another keyed metal box here. I had thought about bolting it to the floor but the cable is convenient. I keep it down between the seat and tunnel so it's out of sight.
Tip: check and get one that is deep. I bought the first one I found and it's fine but I saw ones that are a tad more. Would be easier if you wanted to throw in your wallet or other valuables.

I have a monster vault in my Chevy Tahoe.
A bit pricey but worth it.

I have a Console Vault in my truck just in case I need to leave my pistol. I have two keyed lock boxes cabled in the bed of the truck for FOPA travel.

Re: Vehicle gun storage
First off My vehicles have decent aftermarket alarms. The I have a lock box with a cable to a seat strut. I eventually plan to install a larger lock box that will fit behind the seat in my truck. this will allow storage of a shotgun and a few rifles. This will also be cabled to two seat struts.

Re: Vehicle gun storage
I prefer combination locks versus keys, so the cheap boxes I have are combinations, which can be a little harder to find sometimes. I like them because you can set the combination the same on multiple boxes and never have to worry about misplacing/forgetting the key. You do need light to see the numbers on the combination locks. But, keyed locks do have their advantages as well.
I have one of these:

And a couple of these:

Neither are anything to get excited about, but both serve their intended purpose.
