I need advice on a trade! (XDs-for DPMS Sportical)

Someone recently offered to trade their DPMS Sportical (.223/5.56 NATO) for my Springfield XDs-45. I rarely carry my XDs anymore (I favor my Ruger LCP for ccw), and I have wanted an AR-15 for a while. This particular model AR does not have a forward assist or a dust cover, but it comes with optics and otherwise seems to be a good rifle. I know i could always swap out the upper if I really wanted the FA/dust cover, bu I want to know if this is a fair trade. My XDs has Tru-Glo TFO night sights and rubberized Talon grips. I am including a box of Hydra-Shok ammo, an extra mag, and 2 holsters (IWB/OWB). I'm not emotionally attached to my pistol (I have others), but I want to make sure I a not being had by someone who wants to get rid of a poorly informed purchase. Any input is appreciated!

Ha! I sure hope not! I'm living in Vermont for the year, so I sincerely doubt it.

If you make the trade, will you change your screen name to Sporticle? If so, stick with the XDS45. It has a nicer ring to it!

Not gonna make the trade. If I did I would have to change my name to "breaks after 100 rounds"

Good call. If you really want a decent AR, trade that Xds in for a sport or an AR556. You'll have to put down a few extra bucks but it will be worth it. Or even better, wait until May and there should be all sorts of sweet deals out there.

They are not the most expensive A'S but I know a guy that has two of them and no problems. I have the same gun in .308 and it's a sub moa rifle. You don't need the dust cover or jam assist. It's not like we're in Iraq. Check prices on both, I'm not sure what either are worth.

Sounds like a fair trade to me, there's nothing wrong with DPMS AR15"s, dust covers don't matter much and in real life you'll seldom if ever use the forward assist. I owned a DPMS in 308 and it was a nice rifle, decent accuracy and functioned 100%. I sold to pay off a tax bill but wouldn't mind owning another.
