Colt .25 calibers...

I was at a local gun shop today and was looing at a Colt .25 built in 1912. I am curious if anyone has any more details on this gun or could give me some insight. I would carry it as a pocket pistol if I bought it. It seems to be in good condition also. Thanks!

i can't say actually carrying it would be a good idea.
they are neat little pistols, but:
it's only a ,25acp
the thing is heavy for it's size, what with being all steel.
if it's in good shape there is some collectors value there.

however if the price is right, certainly pick it up.

I have a .25 caliber Ortgies I put in my pocket at time. I have been checking around for cartridges with the best ballistics for this mouse gun. So far I I settled on a Federal Classic 50 gr. advertising 760 fps muzzle velocity w/ 65 ft.lbs. energy compared to say a 9mm @ about 1100 fps w/350 ft.lbs. It's a bit wimpy but still better than the .45 caliber you left at home.

I have one, Toy gun, and if needed shoot offender in throat, Otherwise leave it at home, Try Keltec P3AT,
Sometimes for church or a wedding I may carry my Colt like the one above or my Beretta 418, Same really, MOUSY. But if the Colt is less than 300. That's good.

If it's all you have, by all means carry the Pocket Colt. But if you're buying, look at something like the Kel-Tec or Ruger in at least 32 or preferably 380.

That said, if you carry something else and feel the need for a "last-ditch" BUG, the Colt is tough to beat. 25ACP ammo is incredibly expensive due to comparatively low demand vs. 9mm and 38 Spl.

My uncle has a old Colt .25 he got from his dad. It's silver with like a pearl handle.

I just thought it was a cool little gun. It wouldn't be the only thing I'd be carrying. I wouldn't mind having that though if I just had to run out the door to my car a block down rather than nothing though...
