Default Glad I don't live in NJ

This morning, I was up at the PGC Range on Suscon Rd in Luzerne County, sighting in my T/C Contender handguns.

I was talking with three other gentlemen, when another polite, younger male approached us. He spoke with a heavy accent, I don't remember if he was Asian or Hispanic. We thought he was going to ask about using the range, the rules, etc.

Seems he was from the Kommunist State of NJ and had several boxes of ammo that he was he could not bring back to NJ. I think they were a few boxes of 9mm and maybe one of .40 cal....and some .22lr. He was gracious and offered them to the group. I didn't see the box of .22 or I would have scooped them up, but one of the guys I had been talking to took the ammo off his hands.

I feel sorry for anyone that has to live in that state.

unfortunately he would be merely uneducated. I doubt highly he had anything that is truly illegal. It astounds me that so many still have the misconception, for example, that hollow points are banned. (they're not.)

I have a co worker who swears up and down that hollows are illegal in this state.

They are illegal to possess outside of the home or not traveling to or from a range.

    Edited to reconfirm

Hollow points are perfectly legal in NJ if you have them in your house or are going DIRECTLY to a shooting range (maybe hunting too). Forget just one and have it lying in your car any other time and you are a felon

    Go figure

Good luck explaining that to the NJ state trooper.

My brother in law, a New Jersey attorney, says HP are flat-out illegal to possess.

Mind you, he's completely wrong. But he didn't say "I don't know, I basically do bankruptcies" or "I'm not sure," he said flat out "Definitely, absolutely illegal, I'm sure."

Just goes to show you that you need to consult a GUN lawyer when you have legal needs/questions/issues. (That lawyer should also not be an asshole... like... say... my brother in law)

IDK why it astounds you. NJ prides itself on firearm laws so convoluted that no one knows what's legal and not. Better safe then getting thrown in the can by a JBT while they sort it out.

I'm sure the young man was worried about running afoul of the crazy NJ laws, which is why he stopped at the range. That makes it even worse when your citizens are nervous because of those stupid laws.

HP is allowed in NJ under certain conditions, but I'm sure this guy heard he'd get a million years in prison if found in his possession.
