Keeping a round chambered

Didn't read this whole thread.... either way, it's foolish to not carry with a found in the camber

In my experience being robbed by an armed robber... the first few precious seconds matter a lot! Instead of racking your slide of your EDC weapon... you could have been scanning for an exit route, you could have been looking for the best possible target to shoot that man... may it be dead center, headshot, etc, you could have been scanning ahead of the robber to see who and or what is in your firing path incase those hollow points decide they want to create an exit wound

It's too many fucking what ifs and variables in a situation where you have "put a round" in the chamber to use your gun... what about everything else?

You said it yourself, there's many different situations. Besides the one where you are quick drawing against someone with a gun pointed at your chest.

Ok guys this is my dilemma. For the past year I have been taking some carry classes, as well as shooting. I have been cc'ing for about the past six months now on a steady basis. I practice holstering as well as re-holstering on a daily basis. What my issue is however; I just can't muster up the balls to roll around with one in the pipe. Any suggestions?

Then you should not carry a firearm. Get a can of mace, a rape whistle or whatever. Or get a revolver if you are willing to put a round in each cylinder chamber.

Another tough guy attitude that does not help a dam thing. Not everyone was born with a gun in their hands. Some come from backgrounds that had no basis for understanding how guns operate. Expanding the ranks of 2A supporters can only help strengthen our cause. Pushing them away with negative bullshit can only serve to prove the stereotype that gun guys are uneducated rednecks or criminals.

Got him. I'd never carry with an empty chamber, but I wouldn't make fun of anyone who does. Gunlawyer makes a pretty good argument against one on the pipe; I'm surprised he hasn't weighed in yet.

Although I've had weapons experience/carried a weapon for work before moving to the US, I never carried in my everyday life and i am enjoying the freedom of weapon ownership and the ability to carry every day for defence.

I've been carrying a Glock 43 for about a month, and right from day 1 have carried it with a round in the chamber. I practice the draw regularly and hit the range at least once a week. IMHO, that second it takes you to rack the slide could mean the difference between life and death. So long as you practice good weapon discipline (as has been said already) i think the risk of hurting yourself is outweighed by the risk of something happening to you because your not GTG

For me as well
