    Default AR47 Rifle Build

    Hey everyone,

I had another thread on here but I figured I would start a fresh one to document my AR47 build from start to finish. The goal is to create a reliable, accurate AR47 for CQB / Home Defense. I am going to keep an active parts list of where I got the parts and the cost of the parts as well as a running total. Thanks

    *** Parts So Far ***
AR Stoner Upper Reciever + Lower Parts Kit = $409.99
    https://www.midwayusa.com/product/97...wist-16-barrel

    Anderson Lower = $49.99
    http://www.sportsmansoutdoorsupersto....cfm/ID/124244

KNS Push Button Rear Detent = $18.99
    https://www.midwayusa.com/product/79...er-ar-15-matte

    ASC Magazine = $17.99
    http://www.primaryarms.com/asc-7-62x...asc762-30rd-ss

Magpul MBUS Rear Flip Up Sights = $56.99
Local Gun Store but they are cheap here: http://www.primaryarms.com/magpul-mb...ack-mag248-blk

    Total: $553.95

I had some free time this weekend so I took it out to the State Range on Rt 6. It was a total sausage fest but I got a spot on the 50 yard line. I needed rear sites and the only gun store in my area which had any was Keystone Arms in Matamoras. If I wasn't desperate, I wouldn't have go to that place. $56 later, I had my rear sights:

I was shooting some 122 gr Tula FMJ's from Walmart:

Shot two 3 round groups at 50 yards. The larger triangle was the first group. The recoil was surprising but expected The shots in the red were after I made a slight adjustment:

I then just shot about 30 rounds at 3 rounds a mag with some 'practical accuracy' which is shots in quick but not rapid succession:

I then moved over to the 100 yard line but there was a ton of people so I only had time to shoot a few 3 round shot groups before the sun was heading down. Shot a little high and to the right:

Not the best picture but here is a shot of the rifle:

I will be ordering a shit ton of parts tonight so I will keep you guys posted. Thanks for checking it out

Heh. I never realized a standard lower worked for 7.62x39. I never really looked into it.

Part of me thinks that would make a nice addition, but the other part sez I'd have to buy a shitload of special mags if I did.

No problem at all. Figured it would give me something to do. The mags are usually around 16-19$ a piece so that is kind of a deterrent. The main incentive for me is that I have a number of AK's, a CZ527 and now this AR so I have standardization in caliber across a ton of rifles.

Check out the psa ks47 lower. Best of both worlds, uses a ar upper and a lower that takes standard ak mags.

I just built my wife a KS47 using a stripped lower and a carbine upper from PSA. It came with a plastic handguard and A2 front sight. I installed a trigger, low profile gas block and a free-float MLOK handguard - all Geissele. The handguard was a pain in the ass to install because the upper receiver is wider than a standard AR receiver. Had to notch the ears that normally fit on the side of the receiver to get it to fit.

The lower was clearly designed around Magpul AK mags as they're the only ones that function 100%. Not that it's a bad thing, but if you bought it hoping to use all of your mags, it's not going to happen. I have a few Korean mags that work, but they wobble something terrible. My Croatian mags fit, but the bolt wont close. US Palm mags don't even fit in the magwell.

This was a fun gun for my wife. Something to use in a match or two, so be relegated to one brand of mags is not a deal breaker. I'm planning to get some other mags and try them. So, who knows? I may find others that work.
