    Watched. Thanks.
    Well, that's gay - essentially it's a PSA rifle - or nothing.

The handguard was a pain in the ass to install because the upper receiver is wider than a standard AR receiver. Had to notch the ears that normally fit on the side of the receiver to get it to fit.

The lower was clearly designed around Magpul AK mags as they're the only ones that function 100%. Not that it's a bad thing, but if you bought it hoping to use all of your mags, it's not going to happen. I have a few Korean mags that work, but they wobble something terrible. My Croatian mags fit, but the bolt wont close. US Palm mags don't even fit in the magwell.

This was a fun gun for my wife. Something to use in a match or two, so be relegated to one brand of mags is not a deal breaker. I'm planning to get some other mags and try them. So, who knows? I may find others that work.
    Good to know.
Sounds like buying special mags for a standard lower/upper would be less of a hassle and possibly less expensive.

Sort of pointless if ALL (specifically steel) AK mags don't work flawlessly.

Next update will be around Christmas. Wife is supposedly ordering me about $300 in parts. Might be picking up a trigger before then though

Now that Parts shouldn't try up, I'll be able to get the low mass AA carrier for a 7.62x39 piston upper as well as not worry about getting more ammo for it.

Took the one I just built to the range today. Accuracy was pretty decent, with the suppressor on I was getting around 2.5" groups at 100 with tula off the bi-pod. It fed and ejected without issue but I was getting light primer strikes like crazy. I kind of expected that when I built the lower, the trigger pull is great but it doesn't seem like the hammer has much power behind it.

Yes. ASC and CPD make them.

OK, so what is different from a 5.56 on one of these?

If one wanted to build, which parts are 7.62x39 specific?

    Obviously the barrel.

    Are they piston driven?

    Bolt/BCG?

    Barrel
Bolt and Firing Pin (some bolts may have modded "tail" to allow regular AR15 firing pins versus the "extended" or "enhanced" firing pin for 7.62x39)
Mags (ASC and CPD are all I use with great success)

Black Rifle Arms does sell a 7.62x39 piston which I hear good things about. I plan to do my own using an AA kit, but it will most likely require some tweaking.

    I have about 25 or so 7.62x39 uppers under my belt. I've done 7.5", 10.5", and 16".

VH, what type of reliability are you seeing with these?
I am tempted, but I consider reliability over everything else.
