Photos are a freeze frames of an event that happens in a 100th of a second. A video, in slo-mo, also looks neat. The real life use is a flash and gone like that.
Not that they are a waste or stupid, you just have to have reasonable expectations. You could use them to ignite a gasoline-soaked bonfire from long distance, or get a line of them, with like 10 shooters going off in a row or something, which could look pretty cool.
These are for people with creative minds who like fire and guns, but the rounds are not all that interesting on their own. Think of them as a prop, not the main event.

I think that stuff like this are pretty cool, I just wish they were a little more functional.
