    Default SBR in car/truck

Ok... We all know that you can not carry a loaded long gun in a car/truck.

You can carry a loaded pistol (with a LTCF).

Some people get around this by carrying a loaded AR pistol in their vehicle.

I've seen it touched on a few times, but never followed through.... Can you carry a loaded SBS/SBR in your vehicle (assuming one has a stamp for it).

Referencing laws and regulations would be helpful.

“Firearm.” Any pistol or revolver with a barrel length less than 15 inches, any shotgun with a barrel length less than 18 inches or any rifle with a barrel length less than 16 inches, or any pistol, revolver, rifle or shotgun with an overall length of less than 26 inches. The barrel length of a firearm shall be determined by measuring from the muzzle of the barrel to the face of the closed action, bolt or cylinder, whichever is applicable.

    (a) General rule.-- Except as provided in Title 34 (relating to game), no person shall carry a loaded pistol, revolver, shotgun or rifle, other than a firearm as defined in section 6102 (relating to definitions), in any vehicle. The provisions of this section shall not apply to persons excepted from the requirement of a license to carry firearms under section 6106(b)(1), (2), (5) or (6) (relating to firearms not to be carried without a license) nor shall the provisions of this section be construed to permit persons to carry firearms in a vehicle where such conduct is prohibited by section 6106.
    (b) Penalty.--A person who violates the provisions of this section commits a summary offense.

You can't carry a long gun other than a firearm if it's loaded, in any vehicle.

You need an LTCF to routinely carry any firearm in a vehicle.

    An SBR is a "firearm".

Just bring a copy of your paperwork just in case, its not required as far as I know,
but most cops dont have a clue and you will probably lose the gun for a while.

    +1

Especially if your SBR was say a 14.5" AR. Asside from measuring the barrel or showing the paperwork I would assume most people, including LEO's at will assume its a rifle at face value.

Even if its an obvious SBR as its not something common and you might end up explaining yourself in court instead of at the side of the road.

Even still I have toyed around with the idea of getting a 14.5" AR just to have a SBR "truck gun". But its pretty low on the priority list as far as what I consider a need and funds.

Sbr is wat more firepower than an sbs. You can only get 4and 1 in an sbs of that length.

I would never use one of my class 3 items as a truck gun. Too much waiting to get it and too difficult to prove it's legal etc. I'd rather not have to play that game if I needed to use it.

Honestly I didn't find the process hard at all. Just fill out a form, pay $200, and wait a few months. I thought it was pretty easy actually.

Hell.... Mowing the grass is harder than doing an SBR... My wife can figure out how to SBR a rifle, but understand why most people mow in a counter clockwise direction.

Which form do I fill out if I wanted to SBR this?

or if I were to replace the chainsaw with a shotgun and I wanted to short the shotgun, would that be one form or two?

Break the rules and you get no bones,
all you get is ridicule, laughter,
and a trip to the house of pain.

If you would of bought a 16" bar, you wouldn't have to SBR it. However, you can pin and weld the chain, to make it 16".
