Default Straw Purchases and WGAL ch. 8

Monday at 6:00pm WGAL will do a story on straw purchases her in the Susquehanna Valley. What they showed on TV appears to be saying straw purchases are a legal loop hole for illegal gun buyers. I have already sent them this E-mail.

"I object to you advertising your segment on "straw purchases" as a loop hole in buying guns. A straw purchase is an illegal act, not a loop hole as in a legal way of avoiding taxes. There are already laws on the books on this, they just need to be enforced, not additional laws as your report may imply. We all know that NBC is a far left-wing media outlet. Please refrain from biased reports."

They ran part of the segment to lure you into watching tomorrow night.
Their comment was something to the effect of "gun show loopholes that allow felons to buy guns known as straw purchases".

Straw purchases and loop holes being the key words in the same sentence.

I'll see if I can make time to call them early tomorrow during work and see if I can straighten them out.

Everyone knows a "Straw purchase" is a "Loophole" that allows purchase of an"Illegal Assault Weapon". Just ask any "Responsible Unbiased Journalist".

Note- Words in quotation marks are generally lies used to sway an unsuspecting public, (AKA Sheeple) who believe anything coming from the media.

I have left a voice mail with Carol Jacoby, the Program Manager at WGAL, hopefully she will call me back shortly.

The whole "straw purchase"/"legal loophole" thing confuses me.
How can you buy a firearm "for someone else?"

YOU bought it. it's YOUR firearm. YOUR name is on the paperwork.

If you "give"/"sell" it (let's say it's a handgun) to someone else w/o the proper paperwork, you are doing something illegal. There is no "loophole" here, just an illegal act.

If I were to buy a case of beer for a minor, WHERE is the "legal loophole" that allowed the "teen" to illegally purchase the alcohol?

Ask them that and all you'll hear is the sound of crickets chirping.

Technically you can legally purchase a firearm as a gift for an immediate family member as long as they are not barred from owning one. I'm not sure that I would call that a loophole and it certainly isn't a straw purchase and lastly it is legal so...
