10 Yard / 85 yard zero for .22 LR
I use the military 25 / 300 yard Zero for my AR. I wanted to use some equivalent system that would work for .22 LR. After much trial and error I came up with a 10 / 85 yard zero that seems to create a somewhat smooth arc.
I used my most accurate bolt action Rifle for .22 LR and CCI ammo. The scope sits about 2 inches high from the bore.
Here is my data:
10 yard............. 1st Zero
25 yard............. 2 inches high
75 yards............ 3 inches high
90 yards............ 2nd Zero
100 yards.......... 3 inches low
I was somewhat surprised at how fast the drop was after reaching its apex at about 90 yards.
The grouping was about 2 inches at 25 yds and about 6 inches at 100 yds from a rested shooting position. I have gotten much tighter groupings before, but this grouping a better representation of average.
The goal here was to find a zero that would create a smooth arc across a wide range of shooting distances within the 100 yd range that I normally shoot.Last edited by tsafa; October 8th, 2016 at 09:30 PM.
