Did you mention the difference between enforcing State Law and Federal Law? Are your local officers even authorized to enforce Federal Law? If not, then the Gun Free School Zone Act might as well not even exist as far as your local officers are concerned.

Also don't forget to notify them not to carry off duty through a school zone unless they have an LTCF, since it would be against Federal law.

Yes, my officers know the difference between federal and state/local law. My point in discussing the GFSZA was to point out the differences between the federal law and PA's law about weapons on school property.

I also pointed out, that unless they are on "official duty" they are in violation of the GFSZA and could be arrested and charged by the feds. So, the GFSZA does exist and they are aware of it.
