Recommendations for Level 3 OWB holster for SW MP Shield 9mm

Good morning all,

Does anyone out there have a recommendation for the above??

Or maybe don't recommend anything. I searched the forum and didn't see any past posts about this.

I CC w/an IWB holster and no complaints. Just was wondering of it was worth the $$ to try an OWB Level 3.

Is there a reason why you want a level 3 rated holster? These are typically used by LE and can be cumbersome to use unless you practice a whole lot. For open carry I use a Safariland 6378 ALS holster which is an excellent level 1 retention holster that keeps your finger far away from the finger when drawing. For an extra added layer of protection I added the ALS guard which works out nicely giving you a bit more security without having to go to a level 2 or 3 rated holster.

I certainly recommend owb just for the comfort factor. Which level to use I won't get into.

I really don't understand why you would want to carry a subcompact pistol in a holster usually used for open carry. I would either conceal carry the shield (and I do with the .40 caliber version) or switch to a full sized pistol and the level 3 holster.

Same here. I always carried my shield IWB. My OWB were for my Walther P99 and HK P30.

If you are looking for a holster to carry OWB for nothing else but comfort, then the retention (passive) that most kydex holsters provide should be sufficient. On the other hand, if you intend to rappel from the side of buildings, helicopters, base jump from a mountain side into an enemy stronghold and delving in standard operator tendencies and shenanigans of that nature, then yes, it is totally worth it....

All of the arguments are irrelevant, as I'm not sure if a level 3 holster exists for that firearm. It looks like the only ones might be the GLS.
