Freedom Munitions American Steel Ammo
I tried some of this the other day in my Ruger 9E. It worked great in the gun.
Brass plated steel cased. A pretty good value for "new" ammo.

Re: Freedom Munitions American Steel Ammo
Theres less than a dollar price diff. between that and the regular brass cased ammo..
Not really sure I see the point.

Unless it's of better quality, more consistent, and less dirty than Golden Bear, I'm not quite sure I see the point. However, the brass plating might might make the cases feed better, as lacquer or polymer coated steel cases tend to be a little more "sticky" than brass cases.

Re: Freedom Munitions American Steel Ammo
My biggest worry about steel cased ammo is an empty case digging into the slide if a jam happens.

Re: Freedom Munitions American Steel Ammo
The slide on any quality gun is going to be way harder then the thin untreated mild steel used to make a steel case.
The extra wear on parts like extractors and ejectors is highly over stated to the point where it's almost non existent. Any added or faster wear will come from the barrel due of most of the bullets being bi metal.
If you do a lot of shooting and do not reload the difference in the money you save shooting steel far out weighs the cost of replacing worn or shot out parts.
So to sum it up your worries are completely unnecessary.

This is my primary carry piece.money.jpg Even if the slide is harder, the steel case is sharp and there would be an impact to dig in.

I have shot thousands of rounds of all the color bears and I can guarantee you could never tell in any of my pistols or rifles. For one metal to cause impact damage to another including peening that metal must be equivalent to or harder then the other. The fact I can shoot a rifle rated AR500 target with a 7.62x39 rifle round with a Bi metal jacket at 30 yard and leave absoutly no hole, dent, ding or even a surface scratch proves this.

LOL!! I LOVE that money look. If being robbed, I could awkwardly fumble with the gun until finally getting control over it, meanwhile, the perp is seeing money and thinking he's getting paid!

The steel those cases are made from are as soft as it gets basicly coat hanger material . I wouldn't worry a bit . Surplus makarovs and other com bloc weapons were fed steady diets of steel case ammo for years without harm and still look and function fine .

What's the headstamp on these? Just another thing to weed out from range pickups.
