Same here. The marks never bothered me either. I'm building a tool to use. Not to look at and admire

Plus, now that you know how it goes together, you know what part does what, and how to fix it should it need repair. You also have an idea of how to kludge something together that works in the event that you can't get the proper parts and you MUST make the thing run RIGHT THE Fk NOW.

I've done a number of lowers and helped others with lower build-outs. The lower is more complex than the upper. Having the proper tools is a must (WECSOG builds are easy to spot).

not hard.. and a upper is not that hard either... you need an upper vise block to do the barrel ...
    go for it

I think this is the one you gave me before.
I had to look it up again because I may assemble my lower tonight or tomorrow.

He shows how to do it with no special tools...

Mine are still lying here with the tape on them from the last time.

I went the extra step of covering most of the side of the lower with duct tape just in case I slipped.
Takes a few seconds to apply some protective tape, but scratches are forever.

I used a beading mat (Mrs EM does some crafty jewelry making) to keep the small parts from rolling around.
It's just some "fuzzy" material that keeps tiny pieces where you put them.
