Re: Another Gun in a Box - AR15 Pistol Build
Here's a few pics of the drop in trigger group as well as the issue I was having and my solution...
Patriot Ordnance Factory (POF) 4.5 lb single stage trigger with KNS anti-walk pins included.
There's the troublemaker! That black "tab" to the right.
Once the trigger assembly is installed, the safety selector runs through the lower from one side to the other and right across that tab.
Note the rubber "feet" on the bottom. From what I understand most other drop in units have set screws that need to be fine tuned for proper fit. These replace set screws and they just "squish" down when you press down to get the pin holes lined up. I have never used anything other than milspec triggers or RRA 2-stage triggers, so I have no opinion on this trigger system yet aside from knowing it's nice and light after having shot a rifle with one installed.
I'm not wild about the narrow trigger face. Maybe I'll get used to it though.
To spare you from anyone quoting a post with twenty pics, I'll break this up into segments...I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

Re: Another Gun in a Box - AR15 Pistol Build
When installing the trigger group itself you "simply" line up the holes and put the two pins through.
The instructions stat that you may need to press downward on the hammer until the holes align.
Maybe if you're a gorilla. No matter how hard I pressed by hand, or with channel lock pliers, I could NOT get the first pin hole to line up.
I reasoned that if you got one pin inserted - either pin - the other should line up, so I just inserted the pins in reverse order than indicated.
I could only do this by applying heavy downward pressure to the top of the hammer to press down the rubber feet and line up the holes to insert the pins.
I put one jaw on top and the other alongside the trigger and carefully made sure to push DOWN and not at any sort of angle.
(I took these two pics after the fact just to show how I did it - the pins can be seen in place before the other pieces have been installed)

Re: Another Gun in a Box - AR15 Pistol Build
Once the anti walk pins were finished/screwed in, it was time to continue on with the lower parts installation.
The safety selector was next and goes through the large holes in the rear of the lower.
In the pic below you can see the "tab" it must cross over...
A better view of the "obstruction" that was driving me mad.
In the end, I was able to use a screwdriver to press against the selector keeping it "lined up" while I pushed it through the whole way with my thumb.
The selector got a little boogered up in the process, but nobody will see those scratches.

Re: Another Gun in a Box - AR15 Pistol Build
It's weird. I can't really explain how it feels yet.
It's heavy because of the fat-assed barrel and muzzle device, but it feels light at the same time - I assume due to the shortened dimensions.
Can't wait to get to the range. Gonna get some better pics before I lube the snot out of it. LOL!I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

Couple questions after you have time to get more thoughts together....
1- would you have went with a different tube profile? (Thinner barell profile)
2- would you have went with a different muzzle device?
3- how do you like the length?
I am really liking your build.TOA Feedback Thread: http://forum.pafoa.org/showthread.php?t=276642

Looks great!
BTW, have you considered how f*cking loud that is going to be if you ever have to shoot it in the house?
Stand by for the EM "it won't cycle correctly" trouble shooting thread.Toujours prêt

Re: Another Gun in a Box - AR15 Pistol Build
Thanks. I was starting to get nervous when the handguard length wasn't jiving with the calculations I had made pertaining to the barrel with comp attached but in the end it all worked out and I'm happy with the appearance of it.
Maybe I should get a suppressor and defeat the purpose of having a handy AR pistol? LOL
Yeah, I know it's going to be loud. Not real high up there on my list of concerns if it comes to the point of needing to defend a life indoors.
I will certainly keep you all entertained if it should fail to deliver.I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!
