Default LTCF question, moving out of the state then back

    Hi all,

Hopefully someone can point me in the direction of an answer. I lived in PA and held a LTCF. Moved out of the state for a little over a year and now I live in PA again. My original LTCF never expired. Is it still good or is there something I need to do?

    Thanks for any replies.

When you moved out of state, if you didn't have a license from what became your home state, technically you were no longer eligible for your PA LTCF. If the sheriff who issued it became aware of this fact, he could have revoked it. If he never became aware, and you live here now, it's likely still valid if it's been less than 5 years since it was issued. I'm not sure how you would verify this.

I held a PA drivers license and LTCF. Moved to Iowa, surrendered my PA DL to get an Iowa drivers license, and obtained an Iowa CCW. I was never notified that my LTCF was being revoked although I assumed it was no longer valid since I was no longer a resident of PA. I have recently moved back and just obtained my PA drivers license again. My LTCF is good until January.

I think I may just submit an application to renew it as it was never revoked.

Given that the process is *identical* for first issue and renewals, this seems like a no-brainer.

    My 2¢

Actually, I think the OP is okay now. He has an Iowa CCW license, and the requirement for getting an nonresident LTCF is that one possess a license from their home state, which he does.

So, when he comes back to Pennsylvania to renew his LTCF, all he'll have to do is show his Iowa license/permit/whatever.
