Default What sthe story on these S&W M&P 9mm's

I've been seeing a lot of these M&P 9's come up for sale lately for as little as $300. What's the story?

I was looking for a 9MM for the wife for the range and HD. She needs a smaller grip than her Taurus PT99.
I would also like to move her into a striker fired handgun. The DA/SA kind of sucks for her with the Taurus.
She doesn't really like the grips on my Glock's.

Wish I had gotten mine that cheap, I would snatch it up at that price. I paid 500 in back in 2013.

    They aren't Glocks!

When the M&Ps came out, they were an alternative to the Glock (for those that don't like Glocks etc...), now there are numerous polymer frame/striker fired guns available that one can choose from if he/she doesn't like the Glock platform.

    Just my take...

S&W has a habit of reducing prices. I bought a S&W bodyguard when they first came out on the market for approx. $ 500.00 with tax and pic fee. About eight months later there were being sold for a little more than $300.00. Great for someone currently looking to buy that gun, bad for someone who bought it at the inflated price.

I should have stipulated that it was for a used M&P Shield 9mm or a used full size but in .40.

I don't know why you're seeing a bunch of cheap M&P9s, but I do know that (with the small backstrap) it's the perfect full-size handgun for small hands!

A used M&P pistol probably won’t go for much these days. S&W doesn’t have the resale value equal to Sig or H&K, the market is flooded with striker fired pistols, from Glock, H&K, Sig , Ruger etc. , and sometimes used M&P pistols are sold at a discount because they are police surplus.

Yep. They can be found for 399 online and are like 439 at Grice. Price has just been dropping. I bought a new one in around 2012 and they were 500 to 525 everywhere I looked

They're Police department trade-ins. Basically being sold as surplus. There are Sigs and Smith & Wesson revolvers on the market right now too. 6 months ago it was Rem 870's.
