Good, maybe she convinced one of them to not drink and drive which maybe saved a life that day.

I did work on the a/c units for two Salvation Army stores around here. It seems all the donations are combed over and employees snatch up much of the good stuff (read silver, name brand, etc.) before it get inventoried.
    I don't trust them either.

So gun dealers that keep the good guns for themselves...

The local Salvation Army store is not the same as the disaster services that help people whose home has been destroyed.
I've seen firsthand more than once how a little teddy bear given to a child who just watched all their belongings get destroyed has given that kid a little bit of hope that things will get better.

I spent a fair amount of time in bars and it was and still is relatively common to see Salvation Army and Catholic priests come in to ask for donations. I base my attitude toward charities and missionaries on the way those I came across overseas treated us, far too many would cross the street to avoid a soldier. Consequently to this day I still refuse to give United Way a dime, the same for the Red Cross and I spit when I hear someone mention the Peace Corps. But! I do contribute to the Salvation Army and the Maryknollers and Franciscans.

Still, 227K is more than reasonable for a CEO of a large national organization. I am sure he works his ass off. If it was a regular publicly traded company you would have to add a zero (or two with stock options)

No one is going to be a CEO for $12.50 an hour.

Well you got more of a reply than I did. The response I received only had "Thank you for contacting United Way Worldwide" in the title, and a copy of my email text in the actual body of the response. Not actual response at all. It's actually about what I expected. These organizations, and those that run them, are so self righteous that they rarely even acknowledge any other opinion.
