Re: IDPA newbie?
I checked out the locations and see double action has them.
Is anyone a member or know about double action and if they will teach a beginer
or take time to help?

Re: IDPA newbie?
I'm pretty sure DA range has the basic safety class:
http://www.doubleaction.org/portal/
A friend of mine took the 4-class sequence of instruction here:
http://www.targetmaster.com/
...it sounds like a good way to get started.

Re: IDPA newbie?
I was not asking about beginer class for pistol safety, I was asking beginer or newbie wanting to start in IDPA competion, or shooting and asked how does DA work with new members wanting to start or compete in IDPA?
Thanks for replying though!

Re: IDPA newbie?
It isn't the range so much as the people running the match. Usually people running IDPA matches are friendly and looking to bring in more people. Just go there one night and watch, or better yet, just shoot a match -- it's really the best way to get your feet wet. The rules are all online at the IDPA website.

Re: IDPA newbie?
The match director at Double Action is Ted Murphy and if you let him know you are new to IDPA he will take care of you.
Ted is one of the good guys, and as a matter of fact is the match director for the IDPA Nationals this year.
Thanks!

Re: IDPA newbie?
The second IDPA match that I ever shot was at Double Action with Ted, Missy, and that crew. They are very friendly and good with new people.

IDPA class coming up on March 10
I'm thinking about going myself, but I'm not sure what the cost is, or any other details.

Re: IDPA newbie?
I met Ted on the IDPA forum and he offered to teach me shooting one day at Ready Aim Fire, he was very friendly and very nice. He took the time to show me everything he could.
I'll be going to Double Action tonight to shoot my first IDPA match. I know Ted's running it and although it's a low light match, I'm going to try to do my best. I just want to get a feel for the match structure.
Let me know if anyone from here will be there, it'd be nice to meet other members of this forum.
