Upgrading grips on an old Sig P229 E2 vs G10 vs Hogue Aluminum

Thinking of upgrading the old (pre e2) grips on my p229. I would love to
decrease the trigger reach while I am at it. As I understand it, all of the
3 options I mentioned do help. I am leaning towards the aluminum,
and will swap out the trigger while I am at it.

Any thoughts would help.

Get the E2 Grip with Short Reset Trigger kit. I like it better and will be doing the same upgrade to my Sig P229 in the future

I vote for the E2 grips as well. For me they made a huge difference in how well I could grip. The SRT is a worthwhile investment as well and takes the trigger to another level. I wouldn't have any of my Sigs without the SRT now.

My Sig 228 wore several different grips in search of the perfect fit. I had the rubber grips and the Hogue G10 grips but what really worked for me is the E2 grip. I also have a short trigger (the physical trigger) and the SRT (internal Short Reset Trigger assembly). This combination of upgrades decreased the trigger reach, greatly increased ergonomics and it's a dream to shoot. YMMV

My mileage did vary. The E2 grips don't work for me. I bought an E2 P226 and the ergonomics were all wrong for me. I ended up putting classic grips on it. The E2 grips were too small for my hands. This shows the difference between standard (red) and E2 grips on a P229.

My 226 came with E2 grips. They were OK, but my M11A1 came with the old standard grips & I liked the feel of them better than the E2s. I ended up replacing the E2s on the 226 with a set of G10 Hogue grips & like them much better.

Acquired a P229 Enhanced Elite w/ the e2 grips - my first go round with the E2. Was shooting nice tight groups - just consistently 3" left at about 15 yds. i've had / have plenty of Sigs and this was the first I was going to have to move the sights on. Decided to throw on a pair of standard grips before I messed with the sights and wouldn't you know POI came back to dead center. Ended up getting a pair of black checkered Hogue G10s - now feels and shoots like my P229c SAS. E2s were not for me.
