Default Addition to October muzzleloader season

    Hello All,

So I had seen that Mississippi has what they call the "Primative Weapons" season. This is pretty much the same as the week long October muzzleloader season in that you can use any kind of muzzleloader, any kind of vertical bow and crossbows for that one week period.

The one key difference is their addition of large bore single shot rifles to the permitted weapons list. Now my question would be does anyone want to see that addition allowed here in PA only for the one week October season? The rule could be made that center fire rifles be limited to .40 cal or larger with no optics permitted similar to the late flintlock season. I think this would be a fair balance with the modern inlines.

So what do you all think? I'm sure the archery guys won't be happy but they have almost 2 full months to hunt while rifle guys are limited to 2 weeks. Plus it would be nice to open the options for that early season as I don't own an inline but I do own an 1874 Sharps.

Another reason to carry my 1895 wouldn't be bad.

It's already a large bore single shot season. Just have to load them from the muzzle.

I really wouldn't consider any kind of cartridge, center fire, rim fire or even pin fire, as being "primitive".

Besides, let's spend the effort pushing for semi-auto rifles to be permitted for hunting through the legislature first.

Personally, it does not seem like it would be worth the time to pursue

IMO semi-autos would be a better goal
