Default Was anyone else disappointed with the Glock 43?

I was shopping for a smaller, summer carry piece and pretty much narrowed it down to either a G26 or a 43. I was pretty close to set on a 26 but I kept seeing people rave about a 43 so I went that route. Well, ever since the first pull of the trigger I wasn't happy. Being so thin it directs the recoil into a specific spot in the hand. Yes, it's only a 9mm and not 40cal or 10mm or anything like that. But being as light as it is it's a little punchy, IMO. Second and most glaring was the trigger. It's terrible out of the box. While advertised as the standard 5.5lb, mine must have been closer to 7.5, maybe 8. I know it was built to (probably) be a pocket carry setup but you don't advertise it as something when it clearly isn't. I ended up putting about a total of about 300 rounds through it before I had enough and traded it toward a used 3rd gen G26. After pulling the trigger on the 26 the first time I knew it's what I should have gone with initially.

Like everything else in life, YMMV.

I like mine, it's my summer pocket gun. It takes some getting use to as the trigger is heavy but breaks clean. I find it to be a very good shooter, accurate and the recoil isn't bad for it's size.

I had no problems with accuracy that couldn't be fixed by practice and I wouldn't say the recoil is bad. But it has a different form of recoil than a traditional Glock. It's much more specific as opposed to distributed across the grip. If that makes sense, that is.

G26 is small, but not in the same class as the G43, Shield and LC9s. I know you replaced it already but the LC9s is a pleasure to shoot for a small 9mm in terms of recoil and trigger. I've heard the Shield is the same way.

Love my 26 (and my gen-2 17...) The little 43 ? MEH. it's ok, but for that level of concealment, I'm going with either my Kel-Tec P32 or P3AT - not that concerned about the bullet functionality out of something that small, they're smaller, and I know they work. The 26 is still too big for deep concealment, and I want a pocket pistol to disappear.

The size of the gun has a lot to do with that, it's small so it will not feel like it's double stack counterparts. It's a gun better suited for more comfort in carry as apposed to shooting.

I like my 43 for concealability and I sold my shield once the Glock released. I won't get into the comparison because I've done it a few times. the Glock could use a smooth trigger face because after about 50 rounds the trigger face doesn't feel good on your trigger finger plus the gun whips pretty hard so the trigger guard tends to smack the bottom of my trigger finger as well.

I did replace the sights with hackathorns but I hated the shield sights as well.

I should add I do have a 19 so the 43 is t my only option and I do have tti +1 and +3 base pads. I am aware of play faced triggers available for the 43 but I don't want to put another $150 into it.

Go head, skin it. Skin that smoke wagon and see what happens.
